Enshrouded 1.0 Best Class Guide

Enshrouded 1.0 does not make you choose a permanent class at character creation. Instead, your class is the combat role you build toward with weapons and skills. Mage is the best all-around choice for players who want the broadest range of options, while Warrior, Ranger, and Summoner suit more specific ways of fighting.

Mage is the best all-around class in Enshrouded 1.0

Mage is the strongest class recommendation for players who want options during a fight. Enshrouded 1.0 expands the magic playstyle with new spells, summons, and more ways to use wands and staffs. That gives Mages answers for different situations: attack from range, control a group, or summon help when a fight gets crowded.

That flexibility makes Mage the best starting choice if you have not settled on one weapon or combat rhythm. It does not mean Mage is the best fit for every player. If you want to block and trade attacks, Warrior will feel more natural. If you prefer to keep your distance, Ranger is a better match.

Mage is for players who want to adapt mid-fight

Mage uses spells and magic weapons to deal damage and control encounters. In 1.0, the class can lean into direct spell damage, combine wand and staff attacks, or add summons and totems to the battlefield. It has the widest range of approaches, but requires attention to Mana and casting opportunities.

Choose Mage if: You like changing your answer based on the enemy, using area spells against groups, and managing a resource-driven rotation.

Skip Mage if: You want every attack to be immediate and weapon-focused, or you dislike needing space and time to cast.

Warrior is for players who want to stay in melee

Warrior is the class for fighting close to enemies with melee weapons. It can favor a shield and a more defensive rhythm or a two-handed weapon that rewards choosing attack openings carefully. The class suits players who want to learn enemy patterns and decide when to block, parry, or commit to a heavy attack.

Choose Warrior if: You want direct melee combat, physical weapons, and the option to build around defense or heavier hits.

Skip Warrior if: You would rather avoid close-range pressure or spend most of a fight attacking from a distance.

Ranger is for players who want to control distance

Ranger focuses on ranged combat, especially bows. It lets you begin attacking before enemies reach you and rewards positioning, clear sight lines, and managing your ammunition. The 1.0 skill tree also supports dagger play, giving Dexterity-focused characters a close-range option when an enemy gets through.

Choose Ranger if: You like picking targets, maintaining distance, and switching to a mobile melee option when needed.

Skip Ranger if: You do not want to manage ammunition or find space to aim when enemies press in.

Summoner is for players who want more on the battlefield

Summoner is a Mage specialization centered on spells that create additional allies or battlefield effects. Skeletons and elemental totems can add pressure while you reposition or cast, making the playstyle feel less focused on a single weapon. It is a strong choice if you enjoy setting up a fight and managing several sources of damage.

Choose Summoner if: You like having summoned allies, controlling groups, and building a fight around more than your own attacks.

Skip Summoner if: You want to deal damage directly and immediately, without relying on summons or setup.

Which Enshrouded 1.0 class should you choose?

Pick Mage for the broadest set of tools. Pick Warrior for close-range weapon combat. Pick Ranger to fight from a distance. Pick Summoner if you want a Mage playstyle built around additional allies and battlefield control.

If you are unsure, start with the combat role you enjoy most in other action games. You do not need to commit to it forever, and you can try a different direction once you have a clearer sense of how you like to fight.

You can change class without restarting

Enshrouded does not permanently assign a class to your character. You can reset skill points at a Flame Altar and shift toward another combat role, so choosing Mage, Warrior, Ranger, or Summoner is a playstyle decision rather than a one-time character creation choice.

Returning players should review their skill tree after the 1.0 changes. If your old setup no longer suits the way you want to play, use the reset to try a different class direction instead of starting a new save.
