Halloween The Game Batter Up Challenge Guide
The Batter Up challenge in Halloween The Game sounds like it should be one of Bob's more straightforward progression challenges: grab a melee weapon and knock Michael Myers down. The confusing part is that players are doing exactly that and seeing absolutely no progress. The challenge appears to care about a much more specific type of knockdown than its name suggests, and that makes your choice of attack important.

Why Batter Up Isn't Counting
Knock Michael Completely Off His Feet for Batter Up
To complete Bob's Batter Up challenge in Halloween The Game, you need to knock Michael completely off his feet rather than simply cause a normal melee knockdown. Based on current player reports, hitting Michael with a car or throwing a pitchfork into him can trigger the type of knockdown the challenge wants.
That distinction is the key to Batter Up. Players have reported repeatedly knocking Michael onto his back with normal melee attacks without receiving progress, while stronger impacts that actually send him off his feet can count.
Because of that, I would prioritize a vehicle or thrown pitchfork rather than spending the entire match trying to repeatedly smack Michael with melee weapons.
The Baseball Bat May Not Count for Batter Up
This is where the challenge name causes most of the confusion. Despite being called Batter Up, current player testing suggests that simply hitting Michael with a baseball bat and knocking him down does not reliably count.
One player reported knocking Michael down more than 120 times while playing Bob and said none of the baseball-bat knockdowns added progress to Batter Up. Other players have similarly reported getting Michael onto the ground with melee weapons without advancing the challenge.
There is some uncertainty over whether a sufficiently strong or heavy bat attack can produce the exact knockback state Batter Up requires, but I would not build my progress around it right now. The important requirement appears to be what happens to Michael, not simply which weapon you used.
In other words, Batter Up does not appear to mean “knock Michael down with a baseball bat.” It appears to mean “hit Michael hard enough to completely knock him off his feet.”
Use a Car or Thrown Pitchfork for Batter Up
If I were specifically farming Batter Up progress, I would stop treating ordinary melee weapons as the objective and look for opportunities to use a car or pitchfork instead.
A vehicle gives you a direct way to create the larger impact the challenge appears to recognize. If you can get Michael in front of the vehicle and hit him, that can knock him completely off his feet rather than producing the smaller stagger or knockdown you may be getting from standard attacks.
A thrown pitchfork is the other reported option. The important detail here is that it should be thrown at Michael; the community report specifically identifies a thrown pitchfork as capable of producing the required knock-off-his-feet effect.
I would prioritize whichever of those two opportunities presents itself naturally during the match rather than chasing Michael around with a baseball bat just because of the challenge's name.
Why Your Batter Up Challenge Isn't Counting
If Batter Up is stuck at the same progress despite multiple Michael knockdowns, first look at how you are knocking him down.
A normal melee knockdown does not necessarily satisfy the challenge. The reports around Batter Up consistently point toward a difference between putting Michael on the ground and actually knocking him completely off his feet with enough force to trigger the required state.
That means I would not immediately assume your challenge is completely bugged just because baseball bat or other melee hits are not counting. Players have reported exactly that behavior.
Instead, switch methods and test a car hit or thrown pitchfork. If those stronger knockbacks advance your progress while melee attacks do not, you have your answer: the problem was the type of knockdown being registered rather than the entire challenge failing to track.
If a car or thrown pitchfork also produces an obvious full knockback and you still receive no progress, then a tracking problem becomes much more plausible. There are already player reports questioning whether Batter Up is properly tracking, so I would not claim that every failed attempt is necessarily player error.
Think About Batter Up as a Knockback Challenge
The easiest way to understand Batter Up is to ignore the name and think of it as a knockback challenge.
You are not simply trying to damage Michael, stun him, stagger him, or make him fall over. You want an impact strong enough to send him completely off his feet. That explains why someone can spend a match successfully fighting Michael with melee weapons and still finish with no additional Batter Up progress.
It also gives you a better way to judge future methods. If another item or attack is discovered that launches Michael into the same full knockback state as a vehicle or thrown pitchfork, it may potentially work too, but I would stick with the methods players are currently reporting rather than guessing.
If you are working through Bob's challenges while learning the Civilian side of the game, our Halloween The Game best perks tier list covers the perks I prioritize for general matches, while our Capability guide explains the Civilian stat associated with melee weapons and throwable household items.
For Batter Up itself, though, the important takeaway is simple: do not assume the baseball bat is the answer because of the name. Focus on knocking Michael completely off his feet, and use a car hit or thrown pitchfork as your best current methods for getting the challenge to register.
