Halloween The Game How to Strangle Annie in the Car
Strangling Annie in the car is the first challenge in Chapter 4 of Halloween The Game, but the difficult part is not actually performing the execution. The challenge depends on catching a very specific part of Annie's scripted routine and getting Michael into position before she returns to the car. If you chase her around or kill her normally, you can easily miss the setup entirely.

Hide in Annie's Car to Strangle Her in Halloween The Game
To strangle Annie in the car, progress Chapter 4 until Annie takes the child she is babysitting across the street, then wait for Annie to return. Do not attack her when she comes back. Instead, wait for her to briefly return inside the Wallace house, go to the car in the driveway, and use the Hide Inside interaction.
Michael will hide in the back seat. When Annie eventually returns and gets into the driver's seat, you do not need to press another button or manually trigger an execution. Once she gets inside and closes the door, Michael automatically strangles Annie and completes the car kill for Chapter 4 Challenge 1.
The entire challenge is really about being in the car before Annie gets back. Once Michael is hiding inside, the hard part is already over.
Wait for Annie's Routine Instead of Attacking Her
The easiest mistake here is getting ahead of the scripted sequence. Chapter 4 sends Michael toward the Wallace house, where approaching the area triggers a scene with Annie talking on the phone while Michael watches from outside.
Afterward, your objective tells you to kill Annie, but I would not treat that as permission to immediately hunt her down. Challenge 1 requires a particular kill, so you need Annie alive long enough for her routine to reach the car sequence.
Wait for Annie to go outside to deal with the laundry in the detached area behind the house. The phone will eventually ring, Annie will answer it, and another sequence will begin. She then takes the child she is babysitting across the street so the child can watch scary movies with friends.
At this point, patience matters more than stalking her aggressively. Let Annie follow the route the chapter gives her because the car execution depends on what she does when she returns.
There is also a dog around the Wallace property that can bark at and attack Michael, so I would avoid wandering unnecessarily close to it while waiting. You are trying to preserve the scripted setup, not create another problem while Annie is moving through her routine.
Do Not Hide in the Car Until Annie Goes Back Inside
When Annie returns, she initially heads toward the car, which makes it look like you need to rush into it immediately. You actually have another opening.
Approach from around the opposite side of the house and stay out of Annie's way. Before getting into the car, Annie goes back through the front door of the house. That is the window I would use.
Once Annie is inside, move to the car sitting in the driveway and interact with it. Choose Hide Inside.
It does not matter which car door you use. The interaction automatically places Michael in the back seat, so there is no special driver's-side or passenger-side position required for Challenge 1.
More importantly, do not climb back out because nothing happens immediately. You are supposed to stay hidden and wait for Annie.
When she returns to the driveway, she will approach the car without detecting Michael, get into the driver's seat, and close the door. The strangulation then plays automatically.
Why the Annie Car Strangulation Isn't Working
If you cannot get the Annie car kill to trigger, I would check where you are in her routine before assuming the challenge is bugged.
The Hide Inside prompt by itself is not the entire requirement. Annie needs to reach the correct portion of her Chapter 4 sequence so that she eventually returns and gets into the vehicle. Hiding too early or trying to force the encounter before her scripted movements have progressed does not replace that setup.
The safest sequence is to use the story itself as your checklist: reach the Wallace house, let the initial scene play, wait for Annie's laundry trip, let her answer the phone, wait while she takes the child across the street, watch for Annie to return, and then wait for her to enter the house again.
Only then do I make my move toward the driveway.
You also should not be looking for a separate strangulation input once Annie gets into the car. Michael performs the kill automatically. If you are sitting in the back seat at the correct point in the sequence, there is no execution button you need to quickly press before she notices you.
The Best Way to Avoid Missing Challenge 1
I think the easiest way to approach this challenge is to forget about Annie as a normal target until Michael is already inside the car.
The objective may simply be telling you to kill her, but Challenge 1 is really a positioning challenge. Every unnecessary interaction with Annie before the car sequence creates another opportunity to ruin the specific kill you are trying to set up.
Stay out of sight, let her scripted behavior advance, and use her second trip inside the house as your cue to move. You do not need to follow directly behind her or sit beside the car for the entire sequence.
Once Hide Inside has placed Michael in the back seat, stop doing things. Annie handles the rest of the setup herself.
That is also a useful rule for some of Halloween The Game's other story challenges: when a challenge describes a very specific execution or recreation of a movie scene, killing the target as quickly as possible is not necessarily the goal. Sometimes keeping the sequence intact is more important than simply reaching the target.
What Happens After You Strangle Annie in the Car?
After Michael automatically strangles Annie, the sequence ends with Michael outside the vehicle holding her body in the Wallace driveway.
Take Annie into the house and carry her upstairs. Chapter 4 continues from there with additional targets and challenges, so the car execution is only the beginning of the larger Wallace house sequence.
Later parts of Chapter 4 also involve Bob and Lynda, including the challenge sequence involving Michael disguising himself with the sheet. If you reach that section and cannot find it, our Halloween The Game Sheet location guide explains exactly when and where it becomes available.
There are also Chapter 4 objectives that depend on building Stalk on Bob and Lynda rather than simply killing them immediately. Our Halloween The Game Stalk guide explains how Stalk levels work and how Killer Sense speeds up the process.
For Annie's Challenge 1 specifically, though, you do not need any complicated execution setup: let her routine reach the car sequence, wait until she returns inside, hide in the driveway car, and stay there until Annie gets behind the wheel. Michael handles the strangulation automatically from that point.
