What to Do With Eleanor's Care Package in Probably Stolen

The best choice is to report the man claiming to be Eleanor's uncle instead of delivering his package.

He appears on Day 28, outside Endless Mode, and gives you the Care Package for Eleanor at no cost. Although he presents it as a generous gift, the Security system identifies the crate as stolen.

The man isn't actually Eleanor's uncle. His delivery is a setup that can get her arrested if you pass it along.

There are three main ways to handle the situation:

Choice Outcome
Report Eleanor's Uncle He gets arrested. Eleanor can later be warned, and you receive a free gift.
Give Eleanor the Package Eleanor gets arrested for possessing stolen goods, ending her storyline.
Keep or Sell the Package You retain an item worth 300 Credits, but this doesn't provide the same outcome as reporting the uncle.

I'd recommend reporting the uncle if your priority is Eleanor's storyline. It's the confirmed route that protects her and allows another interaction with her afterward.

How to Report Eleanor's Uncle and Save Her

To expose the setup, you need to act during the fake uncle's Day 28 visit.

  1. Wait for the man claiming to be Eleanor's uncle to arrive at your counter on Day 28.
  2. He presents a free Care Package intended for Eleanor.
  3. Keep the package on the table and use the option to report him.
  4. Security arrests the man and removes the package.
  5. From Day 29 onward, Eleanor can return to your store, allowing you to warn her about what happened.
  6. After warning her, you can select a free gift.

Reporting him also carries no Black Market reputation penalty, despite his association with that faction.

The important timing detail is that the report must happen while the package is on the table during the encounter. Don't assume you can accept it, put it into storage, and return to the same reporting opportunity later.

What Reward Do You Get for Reporting Him?

Reporting the fake uncle provides the report reward, and Eleanor's subsequent visit allows you to choose a free gift.

The exact available gift choices aren't established by the package information, but the additional interaction is part of the route where Eleanor avoids arrest.

That makes reporting him more valuable than simply taking the package if you want to preserve her story.

What Happens If You Give Eleanor the Care Package?

If you accept the package and give it to Eleanor during her Out of Money or Scavenging visit, she gets arrested for stolen goods.

The package itself is the problem. Its Security record marks it as stolen, even though the person who delivered it claimed it was a gift.

Once Eleanor is arrested, her storyline ends.

There is no confirmed way to explain the situation to her during the delivery or prevent the arrest after handing over the marked package.

Can You Give It to Eleanor After the Heat Disappears?

The package's stolen marking can disappear when Eleanor leaves after her Scavenging visit.

However, waiting for that change doesn't establish a safe alternative delivery route. An unmarked package isn't necessarily one Eleanor will accept later, and it doesn't recreate the opportunity to expose the fake uncle.

If you've already accepted the crate, I'd avoid handing it to Eleanor if you want to prevent her arrest.

Can You Keep or Sell Eleanor's Care Package?

Yes. The Care Package is an inventory item with a listed value of 300 Credits. It occupies 5 by 3 inventory cells, making it fairly large.

It's classified as both a Luxury Item and Household Good, so it can be sold to buyers interested in household goods.

However, its original stolen status is important.

Why the Package Has 100% Heat

The Care Package starts with 100% stolen heat despite not being classified as contraband.

These are two different properties. An item can be legal to own in general while still being flagged as stolen.

The package's stolen marking can eventually clear after Eleanor's Scavenging visit, allowing you to consider selling it without that original stolen designation.

I'd treat keeping it as a financial choice rather than a way to resolve Eleanor's situation. You're retaining an item with resale value, but you aren't receiving the same storyline outcome as reporting the uncle.

Is Selling the Package Worth It?

At a base value of 300 Credits, the package has some financial value, particularly because you receive it for free.

But the tradeoff is the missed opportunity to report the fake uncle and later warn Eleanor.

If your only concern is making money, selling the item is an available option. If you care about story progression, I'd take the reporting route instead.

Can You Open Eleanor's Care Package?

No. Eleanor's Care Package cannot be opened through the normal crate-opening mechanics.

Despite looking like a sealed crate of valuable goods from the Upper Levels, it functions as a storyline item rather than an ordinary container of loot.

Trying to open it with a crate-opening tool or special access key won't reveal the supposed contents.

You don't need to search for a matching keycard or spend money on additional unlocking equipment to resolve this quest.

Should You Open, Report, or Sell It?

There's no reason to pursue opening the crate, since it isn't an accessible source of individual items.

The actual decision is between protecting Eleanor by reporting the fake uncle, delivering the stolen package and causing her arrest, or keeping the package for its resale value.

For the best confirmed outcome for Eleanor, report the fake uncle on Day 28 while the package is still on the table. You avoid ending her storyline through an arrest, receive the report reward, and can warn her when she returns from Day 29 onward.
