Dream Dust in Probably Stolen is created by processing Dream Caps through several chemistry machines. The recipe requires precise measurements, careful temperature control, and enough time to remove the remaining liquid. Getting the mixture right before moving between machines is essential, especially if you want to produce usable vials without wasting ingredients.

How to Make Dream Dust in Probably Stolen
To make Dream Dust, blend Dream Caps into mush, add Alcohol at three to six times the mush volume, and heat the mixture between 40°C and 60°C until it becomes Dream Cap Extract. Filter the extract, dry it using a powered Evaporator, and package the remaining material into Dream Dust vials using the Chem Finisher.
Here's a practical recipe using four Dream Caps:
- Place four Dream Caps inside the Blender, attach a liquid container, and start the machine.
- Use the Composition Spectrometer to measure the resulting Dream Cap Mush. One documented four-cap batch produced approximately 79 mL.
- For 79 mL of mush, add between 237 mL and 474 mL of actual Alcohol. One Chemical Supplies (Common) pack provides 350 mL of Alcohol, which falls within this range.
- Place the mixture on the Heating Plate and maintain a temperature near 50°C until the Dream Cap Mush becomes Dream Cap Extract.
- Filter the mixture with Kotton Fabric, adding finer filtration if you're trying to improve purity.
- Place the container inside the Evaporator with a charged Energy Cell. Allow it to process overnight, repeating if water or Alcohol remains.
- Insert the dried mixture into the Chem Finisher, choose Configure, and select Vial of Dream Dust.
- Press Output to create a vial. Continue pressing Output while the machine has enough usable material.
The most important numbers are the 3:1 to 6:1 Alcohol ratio, the 40°C to 60°C extraction temperature, and the Chem Finisher's 2.00 mL requirement per vial.
The four-Dream-Cap example is a starting point, not a guaranteed yield. The actual amount of mush can vary, so always calculate your Alcohol using the reading from your own batch.
Materials and Equipment Needed to Make Dream Dust
You'll need Dream Caps, Alcohol, a liquid container, and four chemistry machines. The Composition Spectrometer is also strongly recommended because it lets you confirm whether the mixture is ready for each stage.
| Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Dream Caps | Main ingredient |
| Alcohol | Extraction solvent |
| Blender | Produces Dream Cap Mush |
| Heating Plate | Produces Dream Cap Extract |
| Evaporator | Removes water and Alcohol |
| Chem Finisher | Packages Dream Dust vials |
| Composition Spectrometer | Displays chemical volumes and composition |
Dream Caps can be grown from Dream Cap Spores through the Hydroponic System. Alcohol is available through Chemical Supplies (Common), which can be obtained from chemistry suppliers.
Each Chemical Supplies (Common) pack contains two Mini Alcohol Bottles. Each bottle holds 175 mL Alcohol and 75 mL water, giving you 350 mL of actual Alcohol per pack.
The Chemist starting scenario provides access to chemistry equipment, while Wild's Network offers a Retired Chemist referral for players developing chemistry later. Make sure you have an Evaporator before committing resources to a complete production run.
How Much Alcohol Do You Need for Dream Dust?
The correct Alcohol amount depends on how much Dream Cap Mush the Blender produces. The recommended solvent range is three to six times the actual mush volume.
Use this calculation:
Minimum Alcohol = Dream Cap Mush × 3
Maximum Alcohol = Dream Cap Mush × 6
| Dream Cap Mush | Minimum Alcohol | Maximum Alcohol |
|---|---|---|
| 40 mL | 120 mL | 240 mL |
| 60 mL | 180 mL | 360 mL |
| 79 mL | 237 mL | 474 mL |
| 100 mL | 300 mL | 600 mL |
For the documented 79 mL batch, one pack of Chemical Supplies contains enough Alcohol to satisfy the recipe. Its 350 mL of Alcohol falls between the required 237 mL and 474 mL.
Don't Confuse Total Liquid With Alcohol
A Mini Alcohol Bottle contains both Alcohol and water. Pouring 250 mL of the bottle's contents doesn't mean you've added 250 mL of Alcohol.
This is why the Composition Spectrometer is useful even when you already know the recipe.
Check the actual Alcohol reading after adding your solvent, particularly when you're working with bottles or containers that contain additional liquids.
Adding excessive Alcohol also creates more liquid that the Evaporator must remove later. Staying within the recommended range without unnecessary extra solvent can make the drying stage easier to manage.
Best Temperature for Making Dream Dust
The Heating Plate must keep Dream Cap Mush between 40°C and 60°C to convert it into Dream Cap Extract.
Aiming for approximately 50°C provides a useful margin below the temperature that can destroy the ingredient.
How to Control the Heating Plate
The basic Heating Plate can have a target temperature of 99°C, which is far too high for Dream Dust.
Use its heating controls while watching the actual temperature. Switch the heater off before the mixture gets too hot, then turn it back on when necessary to continue extraction.
Don't leave the machine heating unattended simply because the reaction has entered the correct temperature range.
The goal is to convert the mush into extract, not to keep heating for a predetermined amount of time.
Check the Extract Before Moving On
After heating, examine the container with the Composition Spectrometer.
Make sure Dream Cap Extract is present and that the mush has been converted.
If overheating has destroyed nearly all the extract, moving the mixture to the Evaporator won't restore the missing ingredient.
This is one of the most valuable checks in the recipe because evaporation consumes electricity and can take multiple nights.
How Many Dream Dust Vials Can You Make From One Batch?
The Chem Finisher packages Dream Dust using 2.00 mL of processed material per vial. However, that doesn't mean each vial must contain 2.00 mL of pure Dream Cap Extract.
A finished vial can include the extract alongside remaining impurities, and the proportion of active extract determines its purity.
How to Estimate Your Dream Dust Output
Once your mixture is sufficiently dry, check how much processed material remains and whether the Chem Finisher accepts it.
For a container containing 18 mL of eligible processed material, the theoretical maximum is:
18 ÷ 2 = 9 Dream Dust vials.
This calculation assumes the material meets the recipe's requirements and that all 18 mL can be packaged successfully.
It doesn't mean 18 mL of Dream Cap Mush or 18 mL of Dream Cap Extract will automatically produce nine vials. Blending losses, processing, contaminants, and the finished mixture's composition all affect the result.
How to Produce Every Available Vial
Once evaporation is complete, place the processed container into the Chem Finisher.
- Open the Chem Finisher interface.
- Choose Configure.
- Select Vial of Dream Dust.
- Confirm the machine is ready.
- Press Output to produce one vial.
- Repeat until there isn't enough eligible material for another vial.
Each Output action packages another vial, so don't assume the machine automatically converts the entire container in a single operation.
If you're completing the opening Chemist assignment, remember that the initial Cartel quota requires 10 Dream Dust vials with at least 40% purity. You'll need enough finished product that meets both conditions, not simply ten vials of any quality.
How to Increase Dream Dust Purity
Making usable Dream Dust and making high-purity Dream Dust are different goals.
For your first successful batch, concentrate on converting the mush correctly and drying the extract. Once you understand that process, filtration and more precise chemical treatment can help improve quality.
Remove Protein Without Adding Excess Acid
Dream Cap mixtures can contain Protein, which lowers the purity of the finished product.
Small amounts of Acidic Solution can break down Protein. Use a dropper and monitor the composition rather than pouring in an unmeasured amount.
Too much Acidic Solution can leave additional impurities. Basic Solution can counter excess acid, but the goal is to avoid introducing unnecessary material in the first place.
Use Two Stages of Filtration
Kotton Fabric is useful for removing larger particles from the mixture.
A finer filter can then remove additional physical impurities that remain after the first pass.
This approach can also reduce wear on the finer filter by removing larger amounts of plant material first.
Keep containers used for chemistry separate from clean-water equipment where possible, since residue can remain after transferring chemical mixtures.
Use Purification Tablets Carefully
Water purification tablets can help with certain chemical contaminants, but chlorine treatment requires water to function properly.
The supplied chemistry discussions identify at least 1 mL of water as necessary for this treatment.
Using a tablet without sufficient water can introduce unwanted chlorine and damage the quality of the batch.
Dream Dust Purity Grades
| Grade | Purity |
|---|---|
| Pure Grade | 99% or higher |
| Pharma Grade | 90% to below 99% |
| Near Pharma | 80% to below 90% |
| Street Standard | 60% to below 80% |
| Cut Product | 45% to below 60% |
| Junk Grade | 30% to below 45% |
| Starch Grade | Below 30% |
Upgrading the Chem Finisher can reduce impurities introduced during packaging. Improving the Blender can also help recover more usable material, while Heating Plate upgrades make temperature control easier.
These upgrades become more valuable when you're trying to produce consistently high-purity batches rather than simply learning the recipe.
Dream Dust Not Working? Common Problems and Fixes
If your Dream Dust isn't processing correctly, identify which stage failed before restarting the entire recipe.
| Problem | What to Check |
|---|---|
| Wet Ingredient Detected | Water or Alcohol remains. Continue evaporation. |
| Not Enough Reagent | Check the selected recipe and available Dream Cap Extract. |
| Almost no Dream Cap Extract | Review the Heating Plate temperature for overheating. |
| Evaporator doesn't process | Check Energy Cell power and container placement. |
| Very low purity | Inspect contaminants, filtration, and Chem Finisher impurities. |
| Fewer vials than expected | Check processed yield and remaining eligible material. |
How to Fix Wet Ingredient Detected
The Chem Finisher requires sufficiently dry material. If it displays Wet Ingredient Detected, return the container to the Evaporator.
The starting Evaporator uses 6 Energy per day, and larger mixtures can require multiple nights.
Under the documented updated evaporation rules, the mixture is considered dry when no more than 0.1 mL of water and Alcohol remains.
Check the Composition Spectrometer after each processing cycle rather than assuming one night is always enough.
How to Fix Not Enough Reagent
For Dream Dust, the relevant chemical is Dream Cap Extract.
If the Chem Finisher reports insufficient reagent, inspect the mixture to confirm enough usable extract remains for the selected recipe.
A large quantity of dry material doesn't guarantee sufficient active ingredient, particularly if much of the remaining volume consists of contaminants.
If the extract was destroyed earlier through overheating, additional evaporation won't bring it back.
Why the Evaporator Takes Several Nights
The Evaporator removes water and Alcohol over time rather than converting every mixture into a dry product instantly.
Large batches and excessive solvent can extend this process.
Make sure the machine has power, keep the container in its processing slot, and continue until the remaining liquid meets the Chem Finisher's requirements.
Performance modules can increase how much liquid is removed per night, but they aren't necessary for understanding the basic Dream Dust recipe.
The Three Checks That Prevent Wasted Batches
Before finishing a batch, verify these three things with the Composition Spectrometer:
- After blending, confirm the Dream Cap Mush volume so you can add the correct Alcohol amount.
- After heating, confirm the Dream Cap Extract survived and the original mush has been processed.
- After evaporation, confirm enough liquid has been removed for the Chem Finisher to accept the mixture.
These checks help distinguish a measurement mistake from destroyed extract or incomplete drying. Instead of repeating every stage when something goes wrong, you can identify the specific part of the process that needs attention.
Once those stages are correct, select Vial of Dream Dust in the Chem Finisher and produce your available vials. Mastering that basic process is the most useful starting point before investing in more advanced purity improvements.
