RuneScape Dragonwilds How to Change Mount & Mount Skin
Unlocking another mount or a new appearance in RuneScape Dragonwilds doesn't make it particularly obvious where you're supposed to equip it. You won't find a normal mount equipment screen in your inventory, and picking up a new Terror Bird appearance doesn't automatically change the one you're already using.
The option is instead tucked into a menu you may already use constantly for something completely different: your Spellbook.

How to Change Your Mount in RuneScape Dragonwilds
To change your mount in RuneScape Dragonwilds, open your Spellbook and select the Mounts option along the top of the menu. From there, scroll through the available mount options and select the mount you want to use.
This is also where you can switch over to an unlocked carpet instead of continuing to use your Terror Bird. The important part is that changing mounts is handled through the Spellbook rather than your inventory or a separate stable, which is why the option is so easy to overlook.
If you've just unlocked a new mount and can't figure out why you're still using your old one, I would check this menu before doing anything else. Unlocking another option gives you something new to select, but you still need to go into the Mounts menu and choose what you actually want to use.
How to Change Your Mount Skin in RuneScape Dragonwilds
Mount skins are changed from the same place. Open the Spellbook, go into the Mounts menu at the top, and scroll through the available options until you find the appearance you want to use.
This includes alternate appearances you've unlocked for the Terror Bird. If you've collected a Vestige tied to a Terror Bird appearance and then can't find anywhere to use that appearance, don't look for a cosmetic slot on the bird itself. Check the Mounts section of the Spellbook instead, where available mount skins can be selected.
The confusing part is that Dragonwilds puts two slightly different choices in essentially the same place. Switching from a Terror Bird to something like a carpet changes the mount you're using, while selecting another Terror Bird appearance changes how that mount looks. You don't need to hunt for a separate skin menu elsewhere in your inventory.
If you're planning to fully complete Ashenfall rather than just finish the main story, our RuneScape Dragonwilds trophy and achievement guide covers all 50 achievements and the most efficient way to work through them.
What to Do if Your Mount or Mount Skin Isn't Showing
If you know you've unlocked a mount or appearance but can't immediately see it, make sure you're looking through the full Mounts menu rather than stopping at the first options shown on screen. The available mounts and skins can require scrolling up or down through the menu.
That's particularly easy to miss if you're specifically looking for a carpet or a newly unlocked Terror Bird skin and expect the game to automatically replace your current mount. Instead, think of the Mounts page as your mount loadout: unlocking something adds another choice, while this is the menu you return to when you actually want to change what you're using.
So, for both searches, the path is essentially the same: open your Spellbook, select Mounts along the top, scroll through your available options, and choose either the mount or mount appearance you want to use.
