Star Wars Galactic Racer How to Save
Star Wars: Galactic Racer uses a roguelite Tour structure, so saving works differently from a traditional racing campaign where you can manually create a save whenever you want. That matters most when you are deep into a run and need to stop playing without losing the upgrades, Parts, and progress you have built up.

How to Save in Star Wars: Galactic Racer
Star Wars: Galactic Racer saves your progress automatically. You do not need to manually save after every race, and there is no traditional Save Game option you need to use before leaving.
The game records your Tour progress as you move through a run, including after completed events. This means you can stop playing partway through a Tour and return later without starting that entire run from the beginning.
Save System: Automatic
Manual Save Button: No
Can You Resume a Tour Later? Yes
Completed Event Progress: Saved automatically
Best Time to Quit: Between completed events
Players have confirmed that they were able to complete a few races, close the game, and return later to the same Tour progress rather than being forced to restart the run.
Can You Quit Mid-Tour Without Losing Progress?
Yes. You can leave the game while partway through a Tour and continue that same Tour when you return.
You do not need to finish the full run in one sitting.
If you have just completed an event and reached the next stage of the Tour, that progress is saved automatically. Closing the game at that point is the safest way to stop playing because the previous race result and your current run state have already been recorded.
This is especially useful if you are playing in shorter sessions. Galactic Racer Tours can build into longer runs, but the autosave system means you are not required to finish the entire sequence before shutting the game down.
What Happens If You Quit During a Race?
If you close Star Wars: Galactic Racer in the middle of an event, the game does not appear to save the race result halfway through.
Instead, reopening the game puts you back at the start of that event, allowing you to attempt the race again.
Once you actually finish the event, however, the result is saved immediately. At that point, quitting and reopening will not simply undo the completed race.
Quit between events: Resume from your saved Tour progress.
Quit during an unfinished race: Return to the beginning of that event.
Finish the event: The result is saved.
Quit after finishing: The completed result remains.
This can be useful to know if you suddenly need to stop playing during an event, since closing the game does not mean sacrificing the entire Tour.
Is There a Manual Save Option?
No traditional manual save option is available in Star Wars: Galactic Racer.
You cannot open the menu and create separate save slots during a Tour. The game instead manages the current run through autosaves.
Because of that, the simplest rule is to finish your current event before intentionally ending a session. Once the race or activity has concluded, allow the game to return you to the Tour interface before closing it.
If you are struggling with a difficult track before reaching your next save point, our Star Wars: Galactic Racer drifting guide covers braking, tight corners, Ramjet drifting, and how to stop sliding wide.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer PC Save File Location
PC players can also find the local Star Wars: Galactic Racer save files directly in Windows.
For the Steam version, the save data is stored inside your local AppData folder:
Steam Save Location:
C:\Users\[Your Windows Username]\AppData\Local\StarWarsGalacticRacer\Saved\SaveGames\[Steam ID]
If you want to create your own backup, copy the save data rather than moving or editing the original files. Backing up the full StarWarsGalacticRacer folder is the safer option because the game stores multiple types of local data within it.
Does Star Wars: Galactic Racer Have Cloud Saves?
The PC version supports cloud saves through both Steam and the Epic Games Launcher.
That helps protect your permanent progress if you move between PCs or reinstall the game, although local save files are still useful if you want an additional manual backup.
Cloud saves should not be confused with cross-save between completely different platforms. A cloud save on Steam or Epic is designed to synchronize progress within that platform ecosystem rather than automatically proving that your PS5, Xbox, and PC progression can all be shared.
If you are also working toward full completion, our Star Wars: Galactic Racer achievements guide covers all 49 achievements, Arcade Gold times, Galactic Gauntlet requirements, and a 100% roadmap.
The main thing to remember is that you do not need to finish a complete Tour before turning the game off. Galactic Racer automatically saves your run as you move between events, so finishing the current race and then quitting is the safest way to stop and resume later.
