Star Wars Galactic Racer Landspeeder Build Guide
Landspeeders do not need to be built like slower, safer versions of the other vehicles in Star Wars Galactic Racer. Their stability and strong drift make them a good platform for an aggressive exit-speed build instead: enter corners early, rotate the vehicle before the apex, then use Afterburner and Surge to launch out while the Landspeeder's durability gives you more freedom to hold your line through traffic.

Best Landspeeder Build in Star Wars Galactic Racer
Our recommended Landspeeder build prioritizes Afterburner and Surge rather than making Ramjet uptime the entire setup. Upgrade Afterburner first, improve the handling needed to carry that extra speed through corners, then build enough Battery and Surge support to keep producing acceleration throughout the lap.
Racer Style: Afterburner
Early Alternative: Survivor or Redliner
Main Speed Source: Afterburner
Secondary Speed Source: Surge
Support: Ramjet
Upgrade Priority: Afterburner → Drift/Cornering → Battery → Ramjet → Durability
Part Priority: Afterburner while Surging → Surge duration/triggers → Battery → handling
The point is to make the Landspeeder fast where it is naturally comfortable: corner exits, traffic, and sections where a lighter vehicle might lose its line after contact. Instead of spending most of the race managing Ramjet heat, this setup repeatedly creates smaller acceleration windows that are easier to carry through technical sections.
If you are deciding whether the Landspeeder is worth building around at all, our Star Wars Galactic Racer Best Vehicle Type guide compares it with Speeder Bikes and Skim Speeders.
Best Landspeeder Upgrade Order
Afterburner should be your first priority because it is the engine of this build. Instead of saving your biggest acceleration for long Ramjet opportunities, you want reliable speed whenever the track opens after a turn.
Handling comes next, with either Drift or Cornering depending on which part of the Landspeeder feels worse to you. Its drift is already strong, so the goal is not to turn the vehicle into a dedicated handling build. You only need enough control to enter a corner aggressively and still have the vehicle pointed correctly when you hit the Afterburner.
Battery is the next useful investment once your abilities begin generating Surge or protecting your momentum. More ability access means more opportunities to create speed rather than waiting for one large cooldown cycle.
Ramjet comes later. It is still powerful, but this setup does not need it to carry the entire race. Durability can be delayed even further unless crashes are actually ending your Tours, because the Landspeeder already gives you more room for contact than the lighter vehicle classes.
Our Star Wars Galactic Racer Best Upgrades guide covers the broader upgrade system if you want to compare those investments outside this specific build.
Best Racer Style for Landspeeders
The Afterburner Racer Style is the natural end point for this build because it shifts more of your performance toward the boost you are already using on corner exits. It unlocks after winning 35 Galactic Tour events, so you will not have it immediately.
Before then, use the Racer Style that fixes your current weakness rather than forcing a late-game build too early. Survivor is useful while you are still learning tracks and getting punished for contact, while Redliner gives you more outright pace if you are already comfortable managing the Ramjet.
Once Afterburner is available, the build changes priorities. Ramjet stops being something you need to maximize at every opportunity and becomes another way to bridge the sections where Afterburner or Surge are not currently doing the work.
How to Build Around Surge
Surge is what turns the setup from a normal Afterburner build into something capable of chaining speed across multiple sections of a lap.
The strongest parts for this concept are effects that either give you Surging on a predictable action or make Afterburner substantially stronger while Surging. That creates a simple decision rule when random Parts appear during a Tour: take the pieces that connect those two systems before grabbing unrelated raw stats.
Overtakes are particularly useful because they naturally happen when the Landspeeder is already accelerating through traffic. If you can turn an overtake into Surging and immediately follow it with a stronger Afterburner, one pass can become the setup for the next.
Redline-triggered Surge can also fit the build without turning it into a Redliner setup. Use the Ramjet long enough to activate the effect when your Parts support it, then transition back into Afterburner rather than remaining in Redline as long as possible.
If you are still getting familiar with the mechanic itself, our Star Wars Galactic Racer Surge guide explains what Surging does and the different ways it can be triggered.
Best Abilities for a Landspeeder Build
Overtaking Surge is the most natural ability for the build because it turns something you already want to do into another speed resource. Landspeeders can stay composed around other racers, so overtaking becomes more than a position change when it also starts or extends a Surge window.
A Shield ability is the second option I would prioritize when the track contains hazards or heavy traffic. The important distinction is that the Shield should help preserve speed, not simply keep you alive after a mistake. If it lets you maintain an aggressive line through corrosion, cold, or contact that would otherwise force you to lift, it is contributing directly to lap time.
Vent remains useful, but it is no longer mandatory. Take it when your Parts give you a reason to use Ramjet more heavily or when heat is repeatedly preventing you from using it on important straights.
An offensive ability such as Ion Bolt can fill the remaining slot when rivals are the bigger problem. This build already expects to spend time passing other racers, so disrupting someone immediately before or during an overtake can be more useful than adding another defensive layer.
Best Parts for a Landspeeder Build
Do not build around an exact Parts checklist because Galactic Tour does not guarantee the same drops every run. Instead, look for effects that strengthen the same three-part chain: create Surge, make Afterburner better while Surging, and recover the resources needed to repeat it.
Enriching Siphon is an example of the first type of synergy to watch for because it can dramatically increase Afterburner power while Surging. Fuel Vortexer can extend Afterburner under the same condition, changing Surge from a generic speed buff into something that directly improves your main boost.
From there, take predictable Surge triggers. An effect such as Surging Alarm can make Ramjet Redlining useful even in this Afterburner build because entering Redline becomes a way to start the next Surge sequence rather than the final objective.
Battery and Ability-reload parts come next. They do not look as dramatic as a large speed multiplier, but the build becomes much stronger when its Surge or Shield abilities return often enough to influence several sections of the same race.
The practical priority is therefore synergy before rarity. A lower-rank Part that connects Afterburner and Surge can be more valuable to this setup than a stronger Part that improves a system you barely use.
How to Drive the Landspeeder Build
The most important change is when you begin thinking about acceleration. Do not wait until you are already on a straight to decide whether you want to boost. The build starts before the corner.
Begin your drift slightly earlier than you would in a lighter vehicle and use it to rotate the nose toward the exit. Once the vehicle is pointed down the next section, use Afterburner immediately rather than waiting for the Landspeeder to finish accelerating naturally.
That turns every successful corner into another launch point.
The basic sequence becomes:
Corner Loop:
Early drift → straighten the vehicle → Afterburner on exit → trigger or extend Surge → carry speed into the next section
In traffic, use the Landspeeder's durability to hold the cleaner line instead of automatically moving out of the way of another racer. You still want to avoid unnecessary crashes, but the chassis gives you more freedom to commit to an overtake than a fragile Speeder Bike would have.
Surge then becomes the bridge between individual corners. If an overtake, Redline effect, Shield interaction, or Part triggers it, use that window to keep the Afterburner sequence going rather than saving the speed for some theoretical perfect moment later in the lap.
When to Use Ramjet With This Build
Ramjet is still too powerful to ignore, but it should solve situations where Afterburner is less effective rather than dictating the entire setup.
Use it on long straights where you can exploit the additional speed without immediately braking for another technical section. It is also worth using when your Parts reward entering Redline with Surge, because you can deliberately touch that state, collect the benefit, and transition back into the Afterburner loop.
What you do not need to do is hold the Ramjet every time it becomes available. That introduces heat management into sections where the Afterburner could have provided safer acceleration with less setup.
This is what separates the build from the more common Ramjet Rider approach. Instead of asking how long you can keep the Ramjet running, ask how often you can leave a corner already accelerating. The Landspeeder's drift and stability make it particularly good at turning that repeated exit speed into a full-lap advantage.
If a Tour gives you exceptional Ramjet and cooling Parts, adapt and lean harder into them. Galactic Racer is built around random Parts, so refusing a powerful synergy just because it does not match the original plan is worse than changing the build mid-run.
The default plan, however, remains Afterburner first. Build enough handling to deploy it immediately out of turns, use Surge to make those boosts stronger or longer, and save the Ramjet for sections where its higher ceiling actually has room to matter.
