Valor Mortis Duelist's Focus Guide
Duelist's Focus is a useful Amber in Valor Mortis for players who want more consistency from the parry system. Rather than increasing damage or changing your healing, its effect directly widens the timing you have to land a successful parry, making it particularly useful while learning enemy attack patterns or fighting enemies with awkward swing timings.

How to Get Duelist's Focus in Valor Mortis
To get Duelist's Focus in Valor Mortis, travel to the Battlefield and use the Onslaught Arch Lantern as your landmark. There is an Eternal Guard behind the Lantern, and defeating that enemy rewards the Duelist's Focus Amber.
Area: Battlefield
Landmark: Onslaught Arch Lantern
Requirement: Defeat the Eternal Guard behind the Lantern
Reward: Duelist's Focus Amber
This is an enemy-drop Amber rather than one hidden inside a chest, so the important part is finding and defeating the correct Eternal Guard rather than searching the surrounding Battlefield for a collectible container.
What Does Duelist's Focus Do?
Duelist's Focus makes parry windows more generous.
That means you have more room around the correct timing to register a successful parry. It does not remove the need to read enemy attacks, but it reduces how precise you need to be when pressing the parry input.
The effect is particularly useful against enemies whose attacks have delayed swings, unusual windups, or follow-up attacks that make the normal timing harder to judge. It can also make learning new bosses less punishing while you are still figuring out which animations lead into their actual hit.
How to Equip Duelist's Focus
Duelist's Focus is equipped like other Ambers. Rest at a Lantern and open the same interface used to level your character, then use one of the Amber slots shown beneath your skills.
Your first Amber slot unlocks at level 5, with additional slots opening every 10 levels afterward at levels 15, 25, 35, and 45.
If you have already collected Duelist's Focus but cannot equip it, make sure you actually have an Amber slot unlocked and available rather than looking for the item inside your normal equipment slots.
Is Duelist's Focus Worth Using?
Duelist's Focus is worth using if parrying is already part of how you fight or if you are struggling to consistently hit the normal timing window.
Its advantage is reliability rather than raw damage. A successful parry can prevent damage and create an opening that a purely offensive Amber would never provide if you miss the defensive timing that gets you there in the first place.
That makes Duelist's Focus especially useful while learning unfamiliar enemies. Once you become comfortable with their attack timing, you can decide whether the extra parry forgiveness is still worth an Amber slot or whether that slot would produce more value from a damage, healing, or Nephtoglobin-focused effect.
Duelist's Focus is also not missable, so you do not need to restart or wait for New Game Plus if you pass through the Battlefield without collecting it. Return to the Onslaught Arch Lantern, defeat the Eternal Guard behind it, and the Amber can still be obtained.
