Warrior Cats Clans of the Forest: How to Save

To save and quit in Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, open the pause menu, navigate to General, select Main Menu, and choose Exit to Main Menu. Your progress is saved when you exit this way, although your cat may return to an outpost when you load back in. The game also uses an automatic saving system connected to outposts, giving you another way to preserve progress while exploring without manually saving through a traditional save slot.

How to Save and Quit in Warrior Cats Clans of the Forest

The easiest way to save your progress and safely quit Clans of the Forest is through the game's Exit to Main Menu option. You don't need to visit an outpost or finish your current quest before using this method, making it useful whenever you're ready to stop playing.

How to Save and Exit:
  • Open the pause menu while playing Clans of the Forest.
  • Navigate to the General tab.
  • Select Main Menu.
  • Choose Exit to Main Menu.
  • Return to your saved game using the Continue option when you're ready to play again.

When you continue playing, your progress should be preserved, but your cat may appear at an outpost rather than the exact location where you stopped. This is part of how the game's saving and respawn locations work, so returning to an outpost doesn't automatically mean you've lost anything.

How to Open the Pause Menu on PC and Controller

If you're playing on PC, press P to open the pause menu. Pressing Escape may not bring up the menu as expected, which can make finding the save and exit options more difficult.

For players using a controller, press Down on the D-pad to access the pause menu, then navigate to General to find the main menu option.

How to Save at Outposts in Clans of the Forest

Outposts act as fast travel points and are also associated with the game's saving system. You'll recognize these locations by their interactive travel points, including the logs used to access the fast travel map.

Using fast travel between activated outposts has been found to preserve progress. This gives you another way to trigger a save while exploring, without having to exit back to the main menu every time.

Saving Through Outposts:
  • Travel to an outpost you've unlocked.
  • Interact with its fast travel point to open the map.
  • Select another available outpost and fast travel there.
  • Your progress should be saved during the transition.
  • You can travel back afterward if you want to continue exploring the previous area.

Does Interacting With an Outpost Save Automatically?

Simply interacting with an outpost can bring up the travel map without displaying a save confirmation. While outposts are associated with saving, opening the map alone isn't a reliably confirmed way to force a save.

For that reason, we'd recommend actually using the fast travel function rather than assuming that touching the outpost is enough. If you're finished playing entirely, exiting through the main menu is another practical option.

How to Check if Your Game Saved

If you're concerned about losing progress, you can check your save by returning to the main menu and loading back into your game. Look for recent changes such as completed objectives, collected items, or other progress you made before exiting.

Don't rely entirely on where your cat spawns after loading. Clans of the Forest can return you to an outpost instead of placing you at the exact spot where you left off, so a different starting position doesn't automatically indicate lost progress.

I'd recommend using Exit to Main Menu after completing an important quest or making significant progress. For ordinary exploration, traveling between outposts is a convenient alternative. Both methods are more dependable than closing the game directly and hoping its most recent autosave captured everything.
