Blue Prince: Drawing Room Puzzle Guide & Safe Code

The Drawing Room is one of the more frequent rooms you’ll draft in Blue Prince, and at first glance, it seems pretty straightforward: lots of portraits, lots of drawings, nothing too suspicious. But if you’ve played this game for more than ten minutes, you know that “nothing too suspicious” is always a lie.
There’s a hidden safe here, and solving it requires a little bit of pattern recognition, a slight stretch of logic, and counting… Lots of counting.
How to Reveal the Safe

First, walk up to the painting of the old man above the fireplace. Take a close look at the candelabras on either side of the mantle. In the painting, the left one is bent. In real life, it’s straight.
Now interact with the left-hand candelabra. This will cause the painting to shift and reveal a hidden safe in the wall behind it.
The Puzzle Clue: Small Gaits
This puzzle ties into the larger “painting pairs” meta puzzle spread across the mansion. One of the clues refers to “small gates”—but in classic Blue Prince fashion, that’s a pun. It really means “small gaits,” as in the way someone walks.
So now the game becomes “find the figures with the tiniest steps.”
Solution: Who Has the Smallest Steps?
There are two kinds of figures in the room who have notably short strides:
A woman wearing a skirt
A man carrying an umbrella
Your job is to count how many portraits show each of them.
Safe Code Solution
Count up all the relevant portraits. You should find:
4 portraits of the woman
15 portraits of the man with the umbrella
That makes the code: 0-4-1-5
Rewards
Once the code is entered, the safe will pop open. Inside, you’ll find:
A red envelope (which contains something very interesting)
A gem
Like other safes in the manor, the reward is both a treat and a nudge toward deeper secrets. And yes, the safe is tied to a larger web of painting clues, so keep your eyes peeled across future runs.
Final Blurb
The Drawing Room safe is a perfect example of how Blue Prince hides secrets in plain sight—and makes you feel clever for catching on. If you find yourself counting umbrella men and skirted ladies out loud, congrats, you’re doing it right. Just maybe don’t do it in public.
