Castle Crashers Painter Boss Paradise DLC Characters Guide
The Painter Boss Paradise DLC adds 10 unique playable characters to Castle Crashers, all built with the new customization system. These include Paint Junior plus nine example characters made by The Behemoth.
Each one comes with fresh sprites, portraits, and animations, only available when Fresh Styles are enabled. You can unlock all characters instantly after purchasing the DLC without any sort of grinding; Just toggle Fresh Styles on from the options and open the DLC menu.
Paint Junior Overview
Paint Junior is a small version of the Painter boss from the original game. He uses a brush-based moveset with fluid combos and animated ink trails. Attacks use a lot of color splash effects, with multi-hit potential in his air strings.
He feels quick, but his range is shorter than average. Damage output is moderate. Good for players who like tricky spacing and high mobility.
Example Characters List
These nine characters come with the DLC as ready-made examples of the new creator system.
Herbert
Looks like the angry red painting from the Painter boss fight. Standard sword moveset with wide swings. Basic but satisfying.
Charles
A floating, round character with bugged-out eyes. Moves feel weightless, with wobbly animation. Great comedic effect but hard to read in fast fights.
Bowling Ball
Black-and-white heavy roller. Uses punchy impact effects. Slides in some of his moves. Feels like a momentum-based style, even if functionally he's balanced.
Softball
Lighter, faster version of Bowling Ball. Smaller hitbox, quicker animation. Some air attacks feel like tosses or spins.
Snail Man
Tall, goofy snail-person hybrid. Uses slug trails and slime splashes. Melee hits look slow but land hard.
Mushroom
Cartoon-style mushroom with big bouncy animation. May be based on a poison or nature theme. Responsive to inputs with good hit feedback.
Moyai
Based on the Easter Island head emoji. Rigid movement. High defense vibes, but no real stats listed. Animation is intentionally stiff.
Monkey
Energetic, flailing arms. Has strong jump height and aggressive melee punches. High-energy style, fast and wild.
Allergic
The weirdest of the group. Looks constantly sneezing. Particle-heavy attacks. Visuals make it harder to track during effects-heavy fights.
All example characters use standard game mechanics. Their difference is entirely visual and cosmetic. These are not stat-modified fighters.
How to Use These Characters
To play with any of these characters:
Buy the Painter Boss Paradise DLC.
Enable Fresh Styles from the options menu.
Go to the DLC tab on the main menu.

You can mix and match with any Workshop characters as well. These examples serve as a base to inspire your own.
Final Blurb
Painter Boss Paradise is the first Castle Crashers DLC to add fully customized characters through the new system. All 10 official additions are plug-and-play, bringing color, variety, and personality without changing gameplay balance.
Regardless of whether you just want more variety or plan to make your own, these are a great starting point.
