How to Change Your Appearance in SWTOR

Picked a hairstyle you hate? Want to switch up your look in Star Wars: The Old Republic? You can change your character’s appearance anytime by using the Appearance Designer. It’s easy — but it does cost Cartel Coins.

Step 1: Find the Appearance Designer

There are two places you can use it:

  • On the Fleet: Go to the Cartel Bazaar (take the elevator on either Republic or Imperial Fleet). Look for the big holographic head — that’s the kiosk.

  • In Your Stronghold: You can buy an Appearance Modification Station for your base, but it takes crafted items (Universal Prefab MK-2 x2).

Step 2: Use the Appearance Designer

  • Walk up to the kiosk or terminal.

  • You’ll see a menu to change things like hair, skin, eyes, height, body type, and even your species.

Cost Breakdown

  • Small changes (hair, eyes, etc.): 20–80 Cartel Coins

  • Change species: 792 Cartel Coins
Note: Subscribers get up to 50% off these prices.

  • You can also buy extra customization packs (like more hairstyles or tattoos) in the Cartel Market.

Important Notes

  • You can preview changes before paying.

  • Your new name, gear, and items stay the same — only your look changes.

  • There’s no way to change appearance for free using credits — Cartel Coins only.

Final Blurb

Changing your look in SWTOR is simple, but it’s not free. If you want a fresh style or to switch species, grab some Cartel Coins and head to the Appearance Designer. Just make sure you really like your new look before you click “Confirm.”
