Henry’s got to eat, but so does his four-legged best friend. Keeping Mutt fed isn’t just about being a responsible dog owner—it’s also part of the game. Here’s how to get food for Mutt without too much hassle. Here’s how to feed the dog:

How to Get Food for Mutt

At the start of the game, before learning combat basics, you’ll need to feed Mutt. The problem? You don’t have food for him yet. Enter Oats, who has what you need but, of course, won’t just hand it over. Instead, he’ll send you on a small quest: get his ring back from Tankard in exchange for some dog food.

How to Win Oats’ Ring from Tankard

Tankard won’t just give up the ring—you’ll have to win it in a game of dice. You can play fairly and hope for the best, or you can cheat and stack the odds in your favor.

Right behind Tankard’s dice table, you’ll see a small cave opening. Inside is a chest containing a weighted die, which rolls high numbers more often. Grab it, then return to the dice table. Make sure to include the weighted die in your game for a much easier win. If luck still isn’t on your side, don’t worry—you can keep playing until you finally beat him.

How to Feed Mutt

With the ring in hand, head back to Oats and give it to him. In return, he’ll finally hand over some food for Mutt.

  1. Call Mutt using the triangle button.

  2. Hold L1 to focus on him.

  3. Press X to feed him.

  4. Open your inventory and select the food item.

That’s it—Mutt is now fed and happy. Once you’re done, you can move on to training with Hans and start getting into real fights.
