Unless you’ve just replayed Kingdom Come: Deliverance or have an uncanny ability to retain obscure button layouts, chances are you’ve forgotten how to summon your loyal horse in the sequel. A few hours into the game, you’ll likely reunite with Mutt, your trusty hound, and Pebbles, your noble steed. However, calling them both is a bit of a juggling act because the same button does double duty.

Here’s a super quick guide on how to whistle in KCD2:

How to Call Your Horse

It’s surprisingly simple once you know what to do:

  • PC: Tap X

  • PlayStation 5: Tap Triangle

  • Xbox Series X|S: Tap Y

The key word here is "tap." If you hold the button, you’ll summon Mutt instead. So, if you accidentally find yourself with a happy dog instead of a horse, it’s because you pressed the button like it owes you money. Tap lightly, and your horse will come trotting over like it’s got important horse business to attend to.

What Happens Next

Once called, your horse will typically spawn just behind Henry and make its way over to you. It’s as reliable as medieval transportation gets. Whether you’re planning to gallop across Bohemia or get bucked off after pushing your steed too hard, your horse is always ready to help.

If you abandon your horse for any reason (like fleeing a fight or losing track of it while exploring), don’t worry. Your loyal companion will usually turn up at the nearest named settlement, hanging out near a trough or tavern, patiently waiting for your next adventure.

Now that you know how to summon your horse, you’re officially ready to ride off into the sunset—or straight into a patch of trees because, let’s be honest, steering is hard.
