Solarpunk: How To Get More Seeds
To get more seeds in Solarpunk, harvest wild crops, replant every seed you find, and unlock the Seedspack later at tier 6. In the full release, turning crops into seeds is no longer an early Crafting Table option like it was in the demo, so early Wheat, Carrot, and Sunflower seeds are much slower until the Seedspack unlock is available.

How To Get More Seeds In Solarpunk
To get more seeds in Solarpunk, harvest wild plants, bring the seeds home, plant them, and keep expanding the crop until you unlock Seedspack at tier 6. Early on, you cannot freely break every crop back into seeds at the Crafting Table, so the best method is careful replanting.
This is especially painful with Wheat. Wheat is needed for Animal Basics, Bread, TraderBot trades, Animal Feed, and chickens, but the first islands may only give you a few Wheat plants. If you spend the crop too early, the whole route slows down.
The simple rule is this: do not treat rare crops like food until you have a seed base. Plant first, multiply second, spend third.
How To Unlock Seedspack
Seedspack unlocks later at tier 6. This is the system that lets you start turning crops into seeds again, but it is no longer available early like it was in the demo.
The Seedspack requires several crop types, which means you need to push through Wheat progression and reach later crops before seed production opens up properly.
| Unlock | Tier | Known Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Seedspack | Tier 6 | Requires crops including Raspberry, Cotton, Wheat, Carrot, and Sunflower. |
Once Seedspack is unlocked, seed expansion becomes much easier. Before that point, you are mostly working with wild crop finds, harvest returns, and careful replanting.
Why You Cannot Craft Seeds At The Crafting Table
If the seed option is missing from the Crafting Table in Solarpunk, that is because seed crafting changed from the demo to the full release. The seed system is now farther down the tech tree and unlocks through Seedspack at tier 6.
That means holding Wheat, checking the Crafting Table, or moving crops around your inventory will not magically reveal the old demo seed recipe. You need to progress farther before the seed conversion option opens.
| Issue | Reason | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No seed option at Crafting Table | Seed crafting is no longer an early demo recipe. | Progress to tier 6 and unlock Seedspack. |
| Only found a few Wheat seeds | Wheat is limited when first unlocked. | Replant every seed and avoid spending Wheat early. |
| Need Bread but Wheat is slow | Each Bread effectively costs 3 Wheat through Dough. | Expand Wheat first before making the full Bread batch. |
How To Get More Wheat Seeds
To get more Wheat Seeds in Solarpunk, find Wheat after upgrading your airship range, harvest every Wheat plant, bring the seeds home, and replant them immediately. Wheat is not on the starting island, so you need airship progression before you can begin the Wheat farm.
After the airship range upgrade, search the reachable islands carefully. Players often find only a small number of Wheat plants at first, so check ledges, paths, and smaller island areas before flying home.
If you are still trying to reach Wheat, the Solarpunk Wheat guide covers where to find it and why the first batch should be saved instead of spent immediately.
Wheat is also the crop that makes seed management feel worst. You need 10 Bread for TraderBot progression, and each Bread starts with 3 Wheat. That means the 10 Bread step takes 30 Wheat before you even count Animal Basics or Animal Feed.
For the full Bread route, the Solarpunk Bread guide explains how Wheat turns into Dough and then Bread.
Best Crops To Use Seeds On
The best crops to protect for seeds are the crops that block progression. Early berries and cotton matter, but Wheat, Carrot, and Sunflower are the crops you really do not want to waste before your farm can replace them.
| Crop | Why Seeds Matter | Early Advice |
|---|---|---|
| Berries | Early food and safe starter farming. | Replant enough to keep food stable. |
| Cotton | Used for cloth, crafting, and early progression. | Keep growing it even after your first cloth crafts. |
| Wheat | Used for Animal Basics, Bread, TraderBot, Animal Feed, and chickens. | Save and replant aggressively. |
| Carrot | Later crop used in progression and animal routes. | Do not spend the first few before seed expansion is safe. |
| Sunflower | Later crop tied to Seedspack and animal/feed progression. | Protect the first crop line until you have enough seeds. |
Wheat should be your main concern at first. It competes with chickens, Bread, and TraderBot, which is a terrible combination if your farm is only producing a few pieces at a time.
Seed Farming Tips
The best seed farming tip in Solarpunk is to stop spending rare crops the moment you find them. The first harvest should usually become more plants, not food, feed, or cooking ingredients.
| Tip | Why It Helps |
|---|---|
| Replant every rare seed | Builds the crop supply faster. |
| Do not cook early Wheat | Wheat is needed for Dough, Bread, and progression. |
| Do not rush Animal Feed | Feed uses Wheat that may be needed for Bread first. |
| Search islands fully | Rare plants can be easy to miss. |
| Unlock Seedspack later | Seed conversion gets better after tier 6. |
| Protect important crops | Thunderstorms and bad spending can delay progression. |
If chickens are draining your Wheat supply, slow down and stabilize the farm first. The Solarpunk chickens guide covers when Animal Feed is worth using and why you should save early Wheat before scaling animals.
If you are still in the early game and your whole base is not stable yet, the Solarpunk beginner guide is the better starting point before worrying about rare seed expansion.
Final Blurb
Getting more seeds in Solarpunk is slower in the full release because seed crafting is no longer an early Crafting Table option. You need to harvest wild crops, replant carefully, and work toward Seedspack at tier 6.
Until then, protect your rare crops. Wheat especially should be planted, expanded, and saved before you spend it on Bread, Animal Feed, or chickens. Solarpunk is cozy, but its Wheat economy is absolutely not your friend.
