You cannot manually drop items in Crimson Moon through an inventory or discard menu. The only way to make an equipped item drop during a Hunt is to pick up another piece of gear for the same equipment slot. The new item equips immediately, while the piece you were previously using is dropped onto the ground.

There also isn't a documented way to destroy, discard, dismantle, or otherwise delete an unwanted item during a Hunt. Reserved or stored items are even more restrictive, as you cannot manually remove them to free the slot once you've chosen to store them.

How to Drop Items in Crimson Moon

Crimson Moon doesn't have a traditional inventory where you can highlight an item and select Drop. Gear management during a Hunt is deliberately much more immediate: when you find equipment, you're deciding whether you want to use it as part of your current build rather than moving items around inside a normal backpack.

If you're searching the menus for a Drop button, you aren't overlooking one. You can't freely throw an unwanted weapon, armor piece, or trinket onto the ground whenever you want.

There is one way to make gear drop, however. You need to replace something you're currently wearing with another item for the same slot.

How to Drop Equipped Gear

When you pick up a new piece of equipment during a Hunt, it can replace whatever you're currently using in that equipment slot. The new item goes onto your character and the previous item is dropped on the spot.

For example, if you find a weapon that replaces the weapon you're currently using, accepting the new one causes the old weapon to hit the ground. The same basic idea applies when replacing other equipped gear with an item occupying the corresponding slot.

This is effectively Crimson Moon's version of dropping equipped equipment. You aren't opening an inventory and choosing what to throw away; the drop happens as a consequence of replacing your current gear.

It's worth checking the new item's effects before making the swap rather than treating every higher-rarity drop as an automatic upgrade. Crimson Moon builds rely heavily on how equipment, Boons, Weapon Arts, and other effects interact, so replacing the wrong piece can break a useful combination even if the new item's raw stats look better.

Can You Destroy, Discard, or Dismantle Items?

There currently isn't a documented Destroy, Discard, Dismantle, or Salvage option for clearing unwanted equipment during a Hunt. The game's normal gear flow is based around replacing what you're wearing rather than breaking unwanted drops down or manually deleting them.

The Blacksmith back in Sanctus Clypeus handles crafting and upgrading equipment, but that doesn't give you a workaround for throwing away unwanted stored gear in the middle of a run.

So if you're trying different buttons because you assume there must be another way to remove an item, I wouldn't keep searching for a hidden dismantle command. For equipped gear, replace it with another piece. For Reserved gear, you're much more limited.

Can You Drop Reserved Items?

No. Reserved Items cannot be manually dropped once you've stored them during the run. Unlike equipped gear, you also can't simply find another item and use it to kick an existing Reserved Item back onto the ground.

This makes Reserve much less like a normal inventory and more like a commitment. Once you decide that a piece is worth storing, that item occupies the slot for the remainder of the run.

I would therefore avoid filling every Reserved slot just because you have room. A mediocre item you store early can become annoying later if you find something much better and no longer have an open slot available.

What If Your Reserved Item Slots Are Full?

If your Reserved slots are already full, there isn't a drop or destroy workaround that lets you clear one of the existing items and replace it with a better find. You simply can't store another piece until those slots are cleared by returning from the run.

That makes leaving an empty slot valuable in its own right. If you've already stored gear you genuinely want to keep, holding the remaining space for a rarer weapon, useful armor effect, or another important discovery can be better than filling it with whatever happens to drop next.

Reserved equipment also has an important advantage: stored gear can be retained and purified as you progress through the Hunt, eventually becoming part of your permanent collection. That is why the system is restrictive about treating Reserved slots like disposable backpack space.

Why Can't I Drop an Item in Crimson Moon?

If you can't find a way to drop an item, that's because Crimson Moon doesn't provide a normal manual Drop command. To drop currently equipped gear, pick up and equip another item for the same slot; the old piece will be dropped where you're standing.

There is also no documented way to destroy, discard, dismantle, or salvage an unwanted item during the Hunt. Reserved Items cannot be manually removed either, so be selective about what you store before filling your available slots.
