AION 2 How to Dismantle Gear
Old equipment piles up quickly in AION 2, especially once quest rewards and dungeon drops begin replacing your gear regularly. Instead of leaving unwanted weapons, armor, and accessories in your Cube, you can dismantle them through AION 2's Item Extraction system and recover useful materials in the process.

How to Dismantle Gear in AION 2
To dismantle gear in AION 2, open your Cube with I and use the Item Extraction option at the bottom-right of the inventory. Select the weapons, armor, or accessories you want to dismantle, check the Kina cost, and confirm the extraction.
AION 2 calls this process Item Extraction rather than Dismantling, so if you have been looking through the menus for a button specifically labeled Dismantle, Item Extraction is the system you want.
Open your Cube with I.
Click the Item Extraction icon at the bottom-right.
Select the gear you want to dismantle.
Check the displayed Kina cost.
Confirm the extraction.
You can also select an individual piece of equipment from your normal inventory and choose Extract from its item menu. That works fine when dismantling one specific item, but the dedicated Extraction screen is much faster when cleaning out several pieces at once.
The Quick Select option can speed this up even further by automatically selecting eligible equipment. However, I would still look through the selected items before confirming instead of blindly dismantling everything the game marks as available.
What Do You Get for Dismantling Gear?
Extracting old equipment can return useful gear-upgrade materials, including Enhancement Stones. Equipment extraction can also unlock the appearance of an item for your Closet, giving old gear another use even after its actual stats have become obsolete.
That makes extracting much better than simply wanting an item gone from your inventory. You are converting equipment you no longer wear into materials or collection value that can continue helping your character.
There is a Kina cost attached to Item Extraction, which is shown before you confirm. If you are dismantling a large amount of equipment at once, check the total before clearing your Cube.
Why Can't You Dismantle Gear in AION 2?
If a weapon or armor piece does not appear in the Item Extraction menu, first check whether the item is currently equipped. Equipped equipment cannot be extracted.
This also applies to gear being used by another equipment preset. An item can appear to be sitting unused in your Cube while still being assigned to another preset, which prevents it from appearing as an extractable item.
If gear is missing from Item Extraction, check:
Whether it is currently equipped.
Whether another equipment preset is using it.
Whether the item is eligible for extraction at all.
Unequip the item from every preset and check the Extraction menu again before assuming the gear is bugged.
What Gear Should You Dismantle?
I would use Item Extraction primarily for gear that has been permanently replaced and has no better use elsewhere. AION 2 gives old equipment several possible uses, so higher-value pieces should get a second look before you dismantle them.
Enhanced or Soul Bound equipment may still have value through equipment transfer systems, especially if you have already invested heavily into it. Unique gear can also be useful for Syncing Binding Effects, while certain equipment may be requested through Supply Requests.
Tradable gear is another exception. If another player would actually pay useful Kina for the item, selling it can be better than extracting it.
Usually dismantle: Replaced gear with no remaining use.
Check first: Enhanced, Soul Bound, Unique, or Supply Request gear.
Consider selling: Tradable equipment with meaningful Market value.
Quick Select already avoids some equipment categories by default, including certain Supply Request, crafting, and Unique items, but I would still review the list manually. A few extra seconds checking the selection is better than dismantling a piece you intended to transfer, sync, or sell.
For most ordinary quest and dungeon upgrades, the process is much simpler: equip the better item, make sure the old one is not attached to another preset, then use Item Extraction to turn the outdated gear into something useful instead of letting it fill another Cube slot.
