Gears of War E-Day How to Re-Up

Re-Up is Gears of War: E-Day's prestige system, allowing you to continue earning rewards after reaching the normal Player Level cap. Instead of stopping at Level 100, you can reset your rank and begin another leveling cycle, eventually earning exclusive multiplayer cosmetics. There are a few important differences between Re-Up and ordinary class leveling, particularly when it comes to how many times you can reset.

How to Re-Up in Gears of War E-Day

To Re-Up in Gears of War: E-Day, you must first reach Player Level 100. Once you hit the level cap, the game makes the Re-Up option available. Selecting it resets your Player Level to 1 and awards an exclusive reward.

You can repeat this process four times, allowing you to continue leveling beyond the first 100 levels.

Step 1: Earn Player XP until you reach Level 100.

Step 2: Select the Re-Up option once it becomes available.

Step 3: Confirm the reset to return to Player Level 1 and receive your reward.

Step 4: Reach Level 100 again to become eligible for another Re-Up.

The important detail is that Re-Up uses your overall Player Level, not your individual Horde Siege class levels. Having a high-level Assault, Medic, or another class doesn't replace the Level 100 Player requirement.

What Happens When You Re-Up?

Re-Upping resets your Player Level from 100 back to 1, but it also advances your prestige status and grants a reward. The lower number is intentional, representing the beginning of another leveling cycle rather than a loss of your previous Re-Up.

This means reaching Level 100 is not the end of the overall leveling system. It's the point where you can choose to exchange your current rank for the next Re-Up reward.

Player Level: Resets to 1
Re-Up Count: Increases by 1
Reward: Exclusive reward earned
Next Goal: Reach Player Level 100 again

Re-Up shouldn't be confused with leveling individual Horde Siege classes, which have their own advancement and equipment unlocks. For more on class levels and how they relate to mission challenges, see our Gears of War E-Day difficulty levels guide.

Maximum Re-Up Level and Rewards

Gears of War: E-Day allows a maximum of four Re-Ups, with 500 total player levels available across the complete leveling system. This effectively gives you five stretches of leveling, separated by four resets.

Here's how that works:

First 100 Levels: Unlock your first Re-Up.
Second 100 Levels: Unlock your second Re-Up.
Third 100 Levels: Unlock your third Re-Up.
Fourth 100 Levels: Unlock your fourth Re-Up.
Final 100 Levels: Complete the remaining leveling range after your fourth reset.

Each Re-Up provides an exclusive reward, but the biggest cosmetic incentive is reaching the maximum Re-Up rank. This awards special Wings inspired by Gears of War 2, which appear alongside your gamertag or Steam username in multiplayer lobbies.

These Wings give other players a visible indication that you've completed the game's Re-Up milestones. They're a long-term prestige reward rather than something required to play a particular multiplayer mode.

Why Can't You Re-Up in Gears of War E-Day?

If you don't see the Re-Up option, first check your overall Player Level. You must reach exactly Level 100 before the option becomes available, and being Level 100 on an individual Horde Siege class doesn't satisfy that requirement.

There is also a limit of four Re-Ups. Once you've completed all four resets, you cannot continue increasing your Re-Up count, even though the overall leveling system includes 500 player levels.

Below Player Level 100?
Continue earning Player XP until you reach the cap.

Class Level Is High Enough?
Check your overall Player Level instead. They're separate systems.

Already Re-Upped Four Times?
You've reached the maximum number of available resets.

For players who want the exclusive Wings, I would Re-Up whenever the option becomes available instead of remaining at Level 100. The system is designed around completing multiple leveling cycles, and each reset moves you toward the maximum prestige reward.
