How to Use a Prestige Token in MW4
To use a Prestige Token in MW4, open the Career menu, select Progression, and enter Multiplayer Level Unlocks. Scroll through the available items until you find the one you want to unlock permanently, then press the Permanent Unlock button displayed in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
You'll need to have earned a Permanent Unlock Token through Classic Prestige before you can use this option. Once you spend the token, your selected item remains unlocked even when your Player Level resets during future Prestiges.
Be certain about your selection before confirming it. Permanent Unlock Tokens cannot be refunded or reassigned, so choosing an item you rarely use can leave you waiting until your next Prestige to permanently unlock something more useful.
What Should You Permanently Unlock First in MW4?
The best use of your first Prestige Token is a high-level Perk or Killstreak that you regularly use. These are strong candidates because unlocking them permanently removes the need to progress through dozens of levels before you can equip them again.
Weapons can also be worth considering, particularly if your favorite loadout depends on one that normally unlocks late. However, there's little reason to spend a limited token on equipment you'll naturally regain after only a handful of matches.
Before making your selection, check whether you already own a Weapon Blueprint for the gun you're considering. Blueprints obtained through the Store or Battle Pass remain available regardless of your Player Level, which can make spending a Permanent Unlock Token on that weapon unnecessary.
- High-level Perks: Prioritize Perks that are central to your preferred loadouts and take considerable time to regain.
- High-level Killstreaks: A worthwhile investment if you consistently use the same Killstreaks across matches.
- Favorite late-unlock weapons: Consider these when you don't already have access through an available Blueprint.
- Early-level equipment: Generally worth skipping, since you'll regain access relatively quickly through normal leveling.
Think about which missing unlock would affect your regular matches the most after a reset. Permanently unlocking equipment you use every session will usually provide more value than choosing something simply because it has a high level requirement.
How to Get More Prestige Tokens in MW4
You earn one Permanent Unlock Token each time you enter a new Classic Prestige. To begin prestiging, you must reach Player Level 55 and complete the XP requirement for that level.
Regular Prestige does not award Permanent Unlock Tokens because it already allows you to keep your existing level unlocks and Create-a-Class content. Classic Prestige resets those unlocks in exchange for Permanent Unlock Tokens, a 20% XP boost, and exclusive cosmetic variants.

With one token available per Classic Prestige reset, you can gradually secure more of your preferred equipment as you progress. Prioritizing the items that take the longest to regain will make each subsequent Prestige less restrictive without wasting your limited unlocks.
