Planet Zoo 2 Achievements Guide

Planet Zoo 2 has 39 achievements covering nearly every part of running a zoo, from adopting your first animal and breeding endangered species to building enormous aquariums, completing Conservation Projects, and earning Gold across every Career Scenario. Many will unlock through normal play, while others require very specific species combinations, habitat setups, or long-term goals worth planning around early.

Animal Achievements

Several Planet Zoo 2 achievements are built around assembling particular groups of animals rather than simply collecting as many species as possible. Earth, Wind and Water is one of the easiest because it only asks you to adopt one Aquatic, one Avian, and one Terrestrial animal.

Bear-Able requires three different species from the Ursidae family in the same zoo, while Cats and Dogs needs two different Canidae species alongside two different Felidae species. Jungle Beat requires three Primate species, and Birds of a Feather raises the number to five different Avian species.

These are good achievements to combine with a larger zoo rather than building around them individually. If you are already expanding the species roster for research, conservation, and reputation, choosing animals from these families lets several goals advance at once.

Shared Accommodation is more restrictive. Five different species need to live in the same Terrestrial Habitat and all five must share a Thriving relationship. Simply putting five compatible-looking animals together is not enough; the achievement explicitly requires the relationship status between the species.

Breeding and Release Achievements

The Future is Bright should arrive naturally once the first baby animal is born, but later breeding achievements require more planning.

They Grow Up So Fast requires an animal that was actually born in your zoo to survive until age 15. An animal adopted at a young age does not meet the stated requirement, so keeping track of one of your zoo-born animals early can save time later.

First Steps is the more specialized breeding challenge, requiring 10 critically endangered Terrestrial or Aquatic animals to be born within a single zoo. Because all 10 births must occur in the same zoo, it makes sense to maintain a dedicated breeding population there rather than spreading the effort across different saves.

Release-related achievements form another natural chain. They Do Move In Herds requires releasing a group of more than 10 animals, Worth Its Weight in Gold requires releasing an animal with Gold Genetics, and Job Well Done requires releasing 20 separate Release Groups.

That makes conservation-focused breeding useful for several achievements at once: maintain healthy breeding populations, work toward Gold Genetics, and organize animals into qualifying Release Groups instead of handling every objective separately.

Habitat and Building Achievements

Long Distance Builder is the pure construction grind of the list, requiring a cumulative 25km of barrier. It is likely to build gradually while expanding large zoos, so there is little reason to force it early unless it is one of your final missing achievements.

Just In Case has a much more specific requirement: build an Aviary roof over a Habitat containing either a Penguin from the Spheniscidae family or a Pig from Suidae.

Aquarium construction has two substantial milestones. Full Tank requires five different species living in a single Aquarium, while A Few More Hoses asks for an Aquarium habitat with a total volume of 25 million litres.

Sieve The Day is tied to the infrastructure supporting those aquatic habitats rather than the animals themselves. One filtration network must reach a Filtration Rate of at least 5,000.

Research and Education Achievements

Student and Professor sit at opposite ends of the research grind. Student only requires fully researching one species, while Professor raises that total to 80 different species.

Professor is therefore an achievement worth keeping in mind throughout normal play. Continually moving research onto another unfinished species after completing the current one will make substantially more progress than leaving research idle and attempting to finish dozens of species at the end.

Did You Know? focuses more narrowly on education, requiring every Education Topic for a single species to become available within the zoo. Follow Me! simply requires setting up an Educational Tour.

Lessons Learned is the larger education-management objective. You need to achieve a 5-Star Education Rating, and it specifically has to happen in a non-Sandbox zoo.

Conservation Achievements

Budding Conservationist is the introduction to Planet Zoo 2's Conservation Projects and unlocks after completing one project. Ultimate Conservationist expands that requirement to completing one Conservation Project of every type.

Conservation-aire instead tracks Conservation Credits, requiring you to earn 10,000 CC. Because several other achievements involve breeding and releasing animals, those systems can be worked on alongside the currency goal rather than treated as completely separate parts of the achievement list.

Naturalist requires establishing 10 Ecosystems, while Unbothered. Focused. Thriving. asks for three species to reach Thriving status at the same time within one zoo.

Wildlife Reserve Achievements

Wildlife Reserves have several achievements of their own, ranging from exploration to large-scale development.

Snap! requires taking a Wildlife Reserve Photo with a score of 10,000, while Where Am I? requires driving a total of 10km using the Research Vehicle. Green Thumb is the largest numerical grind among these objectives, asking you to plant 1,000 trees across Wildlife Reserves.

Paradise is the overall performance goal for this side of the game and requires a Wildlife Reserve to reach a 5-Star rating.

Because Green Thumb and Where Am I? are cumulative-style objectives, it makes sense to keep progressing them while pursuing the larger 5-Star Reserve goal rather than saving them for isolated sessions afterward.

Welfare and Management Achievements

Mola Mola Likes You is one of the most species-specific achievements in the game. An Ocean Sunfish needs to reach 100% welfare, so this achievement ultimately comes down to satisfying every welfare requirement for that particular animal.

Goodwin Park looks at the zoo as a whole instead, requiring a 5-Star reputation.

Show-Pony requires starting Gold Tier, or Level 3, Marketing for an animal. Credit Where It's Due is another management milestone and requires obtaining the highest level of Accreditation in any non-Sandbox hub.

Both Credit Where It's Due and Lessons Learned explicitly exclude Sandbox, so use another eligible mode when working toward them.

Butterfly and Exhibit Achievement

Metamorphose requires a Walkthrough Exhibit containing at least three different Butterfly species from Lepidoptera.

The wording is important here because the achievement asks for three different species, not simply three individual butterflies. Make sure the exhibit's population actually represents three separate butterfly species.

Career Scenario Achievements

Career has two completion achievements. Good Start… unlocks once you achieve at least Bronze in every Career Scenario, while Excellent Finish requires Gold in every Career Scenario.

If you are aiming for 100% achievement completion, there is little reason to treat these as two separate playthrough goals. Working toward Gold on each scenario will satisfy the Bronze requirement along the way while also progressing toward Excellent Finish.

Planet Zoo 2 Achievements to Plan Ahead For

The achievements most likely to become long-term goals are Professor, Green Thumb, Job Well Done, First Steps, Ultimate Conservationist, and Excellent Finish. Each asks for repeated progress across a large number of species, projects, releases, placements, or scenarios rather than one isolated action.

Professor is particularly easy to delay accidentally because fully researching 80 species takes sustained research across a large portion of the animal roster. Keeping research active whenever possible should reduce the amount of cleanup required later.

First Steps is another one worth setting up deliberately because all 10 critically endangered births have to happen in the same zoo. Likewise, They Grow Up So Fast depends on keeping a zoo-born animal around until it reaches 15 years of age, so selling, releasing, or moving every offspring can push the achievement further away.

For the collection-style achievements, build zoos with overlapping requirements in mind. A large zoo containing several bears, canines, felines, primates, birds, mixed habitats, research targets, and breeding populations can work toward a sizeable portion of the achievement list simultaneously rather than forcing you to construct a separate setup for each one.
