WARDOGS Best Graphics Settings for FPS
WARDOGS gives you enough graphics options to gain a decent amount of performance without turning the entire battlefield into a blurry mess. For a competitive FPS, I would not simply put everything on Low or Potato. The better setup is to cut the expensive lighting, shadow, reflection, and particle settings first while keeping the options that help with distance clarity noticeably higher.

For the best balance between FPS and actually being able to see what is happening in WARDOGS, I recommend starting with Custom quality and using the following graphics settings:

Global Illumination: Off
Shadows: Low
Reflections: Low
Effects: Medium
Particle Spawn Rate: Low
Post Processing: Low
Motion Blur: Disabled
Depth of Field: Disabled
Lens Flare: Disabled
Bloom: Disabled
Textures: High if VRAM allows
The important part of this setup is what I am not putting on Low. Mesh Detail, View Distance, and Textures are three settings I would rather preserve while looking for performance elsewhere. WARDOGS has large environments and plenty of fights where identifying something at distance matters, so destroying image quality across the board to gain FPS is not necessarily a good trade.
Global Illumination, Shadows, Reflections, and Particle Spawn Rate are much better places to start cutting performance costs. Post Processing also stays Low, while Motion Blur, Depth of Field, Lens Flare, and Bloom can all go completely off.
This gives you what I consider a better competitive preset than simply selecting Low: spend performance where it can still help battlefield clarity and cut the visual extras that matter much less when someone is shooting at you from halfway across the map.
Use Native Resolution, Disable VSync, and Enable NVIDIA Reflex
Outside the main Graphics tab, there are a few WARDOGS video settings I would change immediately.
Resolution: Native
Frame Rate Limit: Match your monitor or use a stable achievable cap
VSync: Disabled
NVIDIA Reflex: Enabled
Picture-in-Picture Scope: Disabled if you need more performance
I would keep your monitor's native resolution instead of immediately lowering resolution to chase FPS. Lowering the internal image quality can make distant players harder to identify, and there are several graphics settings you can reduce before resorting to that.
I also recommend leaving VSync disabled for the competitive setup. One of the supplied recommendations suggests enabling it, while another recommends disabling it; my preference for a shooter is Off because I would rather avoid the additional synchronization latency and control tearing through the rest of the display setup if necessary.
NVIDIA Reflex should be enabled on supported hardware. WARDOGS is the kind of game where responsiveness matters more to me than adding another expensive visual feature, especially once firefights become chaotic.
For the frame-rate limit, I would not blindly copy somebody else's number. A 60Hz, 144Hz, 165Hz, 240Hz, and 360Hz display should not all be using the same arbitrary 90 FPS cap. Start around your monitor's refresh rate, then adjust if your system cannot maintain something reasonably close to it.
Lower These WARDOGS Settings First if You Need More FPS
The best way to optimize WARDOGS is to change settings in an order rather than immediately dropping the entire preset.
If performance is bad, my first targets would be Global Illumination, Shadows, Reflections, and Particle Spawn Rate. These are among the settings identified as having the larger performance impact, and none are settings I would prioritize over a higher and more stable frame rate.
That gives me a simple optimization order: disable Global Illumination, lower Shadows, lower Reflections, reduce Particle Spawn Rate, lower Post Processing, and then start reducing Effects if the game still needs more help.
Only after that would I start seriously sacrificing View Distance or Mesh Detail. Both can be dropped from High to Medium if necessary, but I would rather exhaust the obvious visual luxuries first.
This also makes troubleshooting performance much easier. If you change 15 settings at once, you have no idea which setting was actually hurting your FPS. Start with the expensive group, play a demanding match, and then continue downward only if you still need additional performance.
Don't Automatically Put WARDOGS Textures on Low
Textures are one setting where I disagree with the idea of automatically selecting Low for better FPS.
Texture quality is heavily dependent on available VRAM. If you have enough VRAM and WARDOGS is not approaching its memory limit, High textures can preserve substantially better image quality without being the first setting I would blame for poor raw frame rate.
A good starting point is High with 8GB or more of VRAM. Around 6GB, I would still test High but watch the game's VRAM usage and reduce texture-related settings if you encounter hitching or memory pressure. With 4GB or less, Medium or Low becomes much more reasonable.
The symptom matters here. If your average FPS is low, I would attack lighting, shadows, reflections, and particles first. If WARDOGS runs well and then hitches, stutters, or runs into its VRAM limit, textures and texture streaming become much more suspicious.
That distinction lets you fix the problem you actually have instead of making the entire game ugly because “Low = more FPS.”
Use DLAA or DLSS Quality Before Sacrificing More Visual Settings
If you have enough GPU performance to run WARDOGS comfortably, DLAA is the image-quality option I would favor. If you need additional FPS, move to DLSS Quality rather than immediately jumping to the most aggressive performance mode.
For my balanced setup, the order would be DLAA if performance is already excellent, DLSS Quality when you want additional frames, and then a more aggressive upscaling mode only when you genuinely need it.
The reason is simple: this is still a game where you need to recognize small targets at range. There is little point gaining a pile of additional frames if the image becomes so soft that spotting an enemy across an open area becomes harder.
If you are using another supported upscaler rather than DLSS, I would follow the same principle. Start with the higher-quality mode and move toward performance modes only as far as your hardware requires.
Best WARDOGS Graphics Settings for a Low-End PC
If the balanced settings still cannot produce a stable frame rate, then I would switch priorities. At that point, consistency matters more than keeping Mesh Detail or View Distance at High.
For a weaker PC, try these settings instead:

There is a reason I still would not immediately put absolutely everything on Potato. Mesh Detail and View Distance can stay at Medium while the more expensive settings take the bigger cuts. If that works, you retain a much better-looking and more readable game than you would get from crushing every option indiscriminately.
If you are still struggling after this, then start moving the remaining Medium settings downward one at a time. At that stage, I would also experiment with a more aggressive upscaling mode before lowering the game's actual display resolution.
The Best Competitive Settings Aren't Necessarily the Lowest Settings
WARDOGS is a good example of why I do not like “everything Low” competitive presets.
A higher View Distance has an obvious place in a game built around large battlefields, while decent Mesh Detail and texture quality can help keep the environment readable. Meanwhile, Motion Blur, Depth of Field, Bloom, Lens Flare, heavy shadows, reflections, and Global Illumination are much easier sacrifices.
I would also keep Field of View around 95 as a starting point. Going dramatically higher gives you more peripheral information but also makes objects toward the center of the image appear smaller, which is not automatically better when WARDOGS regularly makes you identify targets at range.
Picture-in-Picture Scope is another setting worth disabling when performance matters. Rendering an additional scoped view can be a bad trade when your priority is keeping the primary image responsive during fights.
My overall rule is to protect three things: stable FPS, low input latency, and enough image clarity to identify targets. Everything else is negotiable.
Start With the Balanced Preset Before Going Full Potato
If your PC is reasonably capable, I would start with High Mesh Detail, High View Distance, High textures, Medium Effects, Low Shading, Shadows, Reflections, Particles, and Post Processing, with Global Illumination and the cinematic effects switched off.
Then actually play WARDOGS before lowering anything else. A crowded firefight with vehicles, destruction, smoke, and plenty of players is much more useful for judging your setup than staring at the main menu FPS counter.
If performance falls below what you want, reduce the expensive settings in order rather than sacrificing clarity everywhere at once. If performance is already excellent, you can instead raise individual settings and decide whether the visual improvement is worth the cost.

There is no single FPS number that every WARDOGS player needs to chase. The better target is a frame rate your PC can hold consistently while maintaining enough visual clarity for long-range fights. Cut the eye candy first, keep the useful detail when your hardware can handle it, and only move toward the Potato preset when you actually need the extra performance.
