Don't Look Down is a side quest in Avowed that takes you to Tago’s Tower, where a pair of trap-setting rebels are making life difficult for the Aedyran army. Your job? Get inside, climb to the top, and decide what to do with the people behind the traps.

How to Start the Don't Look Down Quest

  • Travel to Tago’s Tower in the Shark’s Teeth region of Shatterscarp.

  • Near the entrance, you’ll find a wounded Aedyran soldier.

  • Heal him with a potion or your Godlike ability, and he’ll explain that the tower is full of traps.

  • Accept the task to investigate the tower.

How to Climb Tago’s Tower

The tower is fortified, but there are a few ways to get inside:

  1. Use the broken stone pillars to the left of the entrance to climb up.

  2. Avoid or disarm traps as you go. There are a lot of them.

  3. Find a wooden platform that lets you jump into an opening.

Once inside, follow the straightforward path upward. Watch for traps and loot everything—there are a lot of useful items here.

  • About halfway up, you’ll find a lever that disables all traps in the tower.

  • Keep climbing until you reach the top level, where you’ll meet Katoa and Haiako, the ones behind the traps.

Katoa and Haiako – Convince or Fight?

At the top, Katoa and Haiako will explain why they set the traps. You now have two choices:

  • Convince them to stand down

    • If Kai is with you, he can help persuade them.

    • This avoids unnecessary bloodshed, and they may appear later in the story.

  • Fight and kill them

    • They drop an exceptional greatsword and a leather cuirass if you loot their bodies.

    • They won’t be around for any future quests or interactions.

Rewards & Loot

Regardless of your choice, don’t forget to loot the chest at the top of the tower. Inside, you’ll find the Thirdborn Brigandine Jack, a unique heavy armor piece.

Once you’re done, climb back down and complete the quest. That’s one less death trap in the Living Lands.
