AION 2 How to Change Your Name

Changing your character name in AION 2 requires a Name Change Voucher, so there is no free rename option hidden inside the character customization menu. The voucher costs 500 Quna from the Tsenka Merchants Shop, but there are a couple of situations where buying one is unnecessary, particularly if you are preparing for a server transfer.

How to Change Your Character Name in AION 2

To change your name, purchase a Name Change Voucher from the Tsenka Merchants Shop for 500 Quna and use the voucher on the character you want to rename.

Item: Name Change Voucher
Cost: 500 Quna
Shop: Tsenka Merchants
Shortcut: Press H and open the Tsenka Merchants tab

This is a character-name change only. You do not need to remake the character, change classes, or start over to use a different name.

Where to Buy the Name Change Voucher

Press H to open the Shop interface, then select the Tsenka Merchants section and look for the Name Change Voucher.

The voucher costs 500 Quna, so make sure you have enough spendable Quna before buying it. If you are short, our AION 2 how to get Quna guide covers buying Quna, earning it through the Kina Exchange, and the Style Shop route.

It is worth checking your Quna state as well. If part of your balance is still Pending Quna, that currency can remain restricted until its waiting period finishes, which can make your displayed balance look more usable than it actually is.

Check the New Name Before Spending 500 Quna

The expensive part of renaming is not the menu process; it is the 500 Quna voucher. Decide on the exact spelling you want before using it rather than treating the rename screen like a place to experiment with variations.

You should also have a backup name ready in case your first choice is unavailable. Character names have to fit AION 2's naming rules and cannot conflict with a name that is already unavailable on that server.

Before renaming: Decide the exact spelling you want
Have ready: At least one backup name
Do not buy: A Customization Voucher expecting it to rename you
Transferring servers soon: Read the transfer section below before spending Quna

That last point matters because AION 2 has another system that can force a character rename without using the normal voucher.

A Customization Voucher Does Not Change Your Name

The Name Change Voucher and character customization items serve different purposes.

A Customization Voucher is for changing your character's appearance. It does not replace the Name Change Voucher and will not let you rename the character.

This is an easy mistake to make because both systems involve altering an existing character rather than creating a new one. If your goal is the character's face, body, or appearance instead, our AION 2 character presets guide covers the appearance side of the system.

Customization Voucher: Changes character appearance
Character Preset: Saves or applies customization data

Do Not Buy a Name Change Voucher Just Before a Server Transfer

AION 2's Global server-transfer rules create an important exception to the normal 500-Quna rename process.

Transferred characters are temporarily renamed during the move and are prompted to select a new character name when they log into the destination server. That happens even if the old name would otherwise be available.

So if you already plan to transfer that character during an active transfer window, spending 500 Quna on a Name Change Voucher immediately beforehand can be unnecessary. Complete the transfer first and deal with the new-name prompt on the destination server.

This also means you should prepare alternative names before transferring. Your previous name is not guaranteed to remain available on the destination server if another character already has it.

Can You Change Back to Your Old Name Later?

The normal rename system does not reserve your previous character name for you indefinitely. If you change names and later decide you want the old one back, availability is what matters at that point.

For that reason, I would not use a Name Change Voucher just to temporarily test another identity. At 500 Quna, it makes more sense to rename only when you are comfortable keeping the new name.

Is the Name Change Voucher Worth 500 Quna?

If you want to keep the character, its gear, unlocks, and everything else you have already built while only replacing the name, the voucher is the direct solution.

Creating another character just to get another name makes much less sense once the original has substantial time invested in it, especially because so much of AION 2 remains character-specific even though some systems are shared across the server.

The main reason not to buy the voucher is if another system is already about to give you a rename opportunity, with server transfers being the clearest example. Otherwise, the normal route is straightforward: get 500 Quna, buy the Name Change Voucher from Tsenka Merchants, and use it on the character you actually want to keep.
