AION 2 How to Get Quna
Quna is AION 2's premium currency, but buying it with real money is not the only way to build a balance. Players can also turn earned Kina into Quna through the player-driven Exchange or earn Quna from successful character designs in the Style Shop, although the requirements and effort behind each method are very different.

How to Get Quna in AION 2
There are three main ways to get Quna in AION 2 Global: purchase it through the in-game Shop, exchange unbound Kina for another player's Quna, or earn Style Shop settlement revenue when other players use character appearances you created.
Fastest: Buy Quna directly from the Shop
Best gameplay route: Farm unbound Kina and sell Kina Chests through the Quna Exchange
Alternative route: Publish character appearances in the Style Shop and earn settlement revenue
Important: The Quna Exchange requires an active Special Quai Membership
The important distinction is that AION 2 does not simply let you walk up to an NPC and convert Kina into Quna at a fixed rate. The Exchange is player-driven. You provide Kina, another player provides the Quna, and the exchange rate changes according to what players are currently willing to pay.
How to Get Quna With Kina
If you want to earn Quna through normal gameplay, the main route is to accumulate unbound Kina and turn it into a Kina Chest through Substance Morph.
The chest can then be listed through the Quna Exchange. Another player spends Quna to buy it, and you receive Quna from the transaction.
This means farming Quna is really a two-stage process:
Step 1: Earn unbound Kina through gameplay
Step 2: Substance Morph the Kina into a tradeable Kina Chest
Step 3: Check the current Quna price for that chest
Step 4: List it through the Quna Exchange
Step 5: Another player buys the chest with Quna
You need an active Special Quai Membership to use the Quna Exchange on Global. That is the catch behind calling this a completely free-to-play Quna farm: you can earn the currency without purchasing the Quna itself, but Exchange access is one of the systems gated behind Membership.
The broader economy works the same way through the Market. Our AION 2 trading guide explains how Global handles player trading and Market access.
Check the Exchange Rate Before Making a Kina Chest
The part worth paying attention to is that turning Kina into Quna is not a one-for-one conversion.
Kina Chests have a Substance Morph cost above the amount of Kina actually contained inside them. Current recipes include 400,000, 2,000,000, and 10,000,000 Kina versions, with the morph costing roughly 10% more Kina than the chest contains.
400,000 Kina Chest: Costs 440,000 Kina to morph
2,000,000 Kina Chest: Costs 2,200,000 Kina to morph
10,000,000 Kina Chest: Costs 11,000,000 Kina to morph
That creates a hidden cost to earning Quna. If you turn 2.2 million Kina into a 2 million chest, you are effectively spending 200,000 Kina for access to the Exchange transaction before considering what the Quna is actually worth to you.
For that reason, do not automatically morph your Kina as soon as you have enough. Check what each chest is currently selling for first.
A smaller chest can be the better choice when you only need a little Quna or when demand is stronger at that price point. A larger chest reduces how often you have to repeat the process, but it also commits substantially more of your unbound Kina to one listing.
There Is No Permanent Best Kina to Quna Rate
The Quna value of a Kina Chest is determined by the players using your Exchange, not by a permanent NCSoft conversion rate.
That means a screenshot showing someone getting a certain amount of Quna for 2 million Kina does not establish what your chest is worth today. The rate can move as players need more Kina or as more players begin selling their own chests.
This also makes timing more important than simply farming as much Kina as possible. If Quna is expensive relative to Kina, holding your unbound Kina and checking again later can be better than immediately converting it.
The useful number is not simply the Quna shown on the listing. Compare that Quna against the full morph cost of the chest.
Example: A 2 million Kina Chest actually consumes 2.2 million Kina
What matters: Quna received ÷ 2.2 million Kina spent
Do not compare: Quna received ÷ the 2 million printed on the chest
That gives you a much more accurate way to compare listings or decide whether earning Quna is worth sacrificing your Kina at the current rate.
How to Earn Quna From the Style Shop
There is another route that does not involve sacrificing millions of Kina: create character appearances that other players want to use.
AION 2's Style Shop lets creators publish customization data. When another player uses an eligible style, the creator can receive Quna-based settlement revenue through the Customization system.
Uploading a style by itself does not generate Quna. The appearance actually needs to attract players, so this is closer to selling a digital design than completing a repeatable in-game activity.
To publish one, use the game's Snapshot feature with customization information included, then register the resulting appearance through the Style Shop. Your character needs access to the relevant customization and Snapshot features before you can begin publishing designs.
If you want to work on this method seriously, our AION 2 character presets guide covers the preset and customization system in more detail.
Style Shop Quna Is Passive but Unpredictable
The Style Shop route has almost the opposite economy from the Kina Exchange.
With Kina Chests, you know what resource you are giving up and can see the current Quna asking prices before committing. With a character style, the upfront resource cost is much smaller, but there is no guarantee anybody will use it.
If you are trying to make Quna this way, discoverability matters more than simply uploading as many presets as possible. A distinct face, strong screenshot, recognizable theme, and useful Style Shop tags give the appearance a reason to stand out among thousands of alternatives.
It also means an older successful design can theoretically keep producing settlement revenue without you continually farming Kina for each transaction.
Kina Exchange: Predictable resource cost, Quna depends on current exchange demand
Style Shop: Little direct farming cost, Quna depends on other players using your design
Shop: Immediate Quna in exchange for real money
How to Buy Quna
The direct route is through the in-game Shop. Open the main menu, select Shop, then use the Quna purchase section to choose the amount you want.
This is the only method where you are directly purchasing Quna rather than obtaining it from another player's activity.
Do not confuse that with buying Kina. NCSoft does not simply put a stack of Kina in the regular Shop. If you want to turn purchased Quna into Kina, that happens through the player-driven Exchange, where another player is selling a Kina Chest.
So the economic loop can run in either direction: one player farms Kina and wants Quna, while another player buys Quna and wants Kina. The Exchange connects those two players.
Why Your New Quna May Say Pending Quna
If you obtain Quna and then find that you cannot immediately spend the displayed balance on everything, check whether some of it is Pending Quna.
The Global client has a separate Pending Quna state that changes into Paid Quna after a designated 72-hour waiting period. Pending Quna can have spending restrictions until that conversion finishes.
This is especially important if you earned Quna because you wanted to immediately buy something specific. A displayed Quna balance does not necessarily mean every point in that balance is currently usable for every transaction.
Quna: Normal spendable premium currency
Pending Quna: Quna still inside the waiting period
Waiting period: 72 hours according to the current Global currency tooltip
Pending Quna is also separate from a Market item showing Listing Pending. If you are dealing with the listing itself rather than the currency balance, our AION 2 Listing Pending guide covers that Market status.
What Is the Best Way to Get Quna Without Buying It?
For a player who already has Special Quai Membership and regularly earns unbound Kina, the Quna Exchange is the most repeatable method because you control the resource being sold. Farm Kina, watch the exchange rate, morph a chest when the value makes sense, and sell it for Quna.
The Style Shop has a much higher variance. A character appearance that nobody uses earns nothing, while a popular one can continue producing settlement revenue without requiring another Kina Chest for every payout.
That makes the two methods useful for different players. The Exchange rewards normal MMO farming, while the Style Shop rewards creating something other players actually want.
If you do not have Membership, the Exchange route is the important limitation to remember. You can continue earning Kina normally, but you cannot simply turn that Kina into Quna whenever you want without access to the Quna Exchange.
The best long-term approach is therefore not necessarily to liquidate every spare Kina you earn. Keep enough Kina for your own upgrades, crafting, and other expenses, then convert the surplus when the Quna rate is favorable. Quna is useful, but draining the currency that powers the rest of your character just to increase your premium balance can leave you worse off overall.
