AION 2 What to Do With Extra Feathers

Once your Monolith reaches its current maximum level in AION 2, Empyrean Trace Feathers do not stop appearing around the world. That can leave you with dozens or even hundreds of extra feathers and no obvious reason to keep collecting them.

You can already convert those extras into another resource on Global, but there is also a good reason to consider holding onto them instead of immediately burning through your entire stockpile.

What to Do With Extra Feathers in AION 2

If you have already maxed the Monolith, I would keep your extra Empyrean Trace Feathers in storage unless you specifically need Power Shards. The current Global version lets you Substance Morph excess feathers into Power Shards, but there is little reason to convert your entire stockpile if you do not need those shards right now.

There is another reason to be conservative with them. The KR/TW versions of AION 2 have allowed excess feathers to be converted into enhancement stones, while that option is not currently available on Global. That does not guarantee Global will receive the exact same use later, but keeping a stack of feathers preserves that possibility at essentially no cost beyond storage space.

Monolith not maxed: Keep using feathers on the Monolith
Monolith maxed: Store the extras for now
Need Power Shards: Substance Morph some feathers
Do not need Power Shards: There is little reason to convert everything immediately

How to Convert Extra Feathers Into Power Shards

Extra Empyrean Trace Feathers can currently be converted into Power Shards through Substance Morph on the Global version of AION 2.

Open your inventory, select the Empyrean Trace Feathers, choose the Substance Morph option, select how many feathers you want to convert, and confirm the morph.

This gives you an immediate use for feathers after finishing the Monolith, but I would treat it as an option rather than something you need to do as soon as you reach the cap. If you already have enough Power Shards, converting every remaining feather does not give you much immediate benefit.

Should You Save Extra Empyrean Trace Feathers?

For now, saving at least some of them is the safer choice. Players on Global have been debating whether extra feathers should be converted immediately or held for future updates, and the biggest reason to keep them is what has happened in the other versions of AION 2.

KR/TW players have had the ability to turn excess feathers into enhancement stones. Global does not currently have that conversion, so you should not stockpile feathers under the assumption that it is definitely coming, but it does give unused feathers potential future value beyond Power Shards.

There is also speculation about future Monolith additions, although there is currently no confirmed reason to save feathers specifically for additional Monolith levels. If NCSoft ever expands the system, it could require existing feathers, introduce new ones, or handle the upgrade differently entirely.

Because of that uncertainty, I would not spend hours deliberately farming every remaining feather just in case. I also would not clear out hundreds of feathers for Power Shards I do not currently need.

Should You Keep Collecting Feathers After Maxing the Monolith?

You do not need to go out of your way to collect every remaining feather once the Monolith is finished. If one is directly along your route, grabbing it and throwing it into storage is reasonable, but other gathering materials can become a better use of your time once feathers stop providing immediate Monolith upgrades.

If the remaining feather markers are cluttering your map, you can hide them as well. Open the map filters, expand the Content filter, and disable Empyrean Trace. You can always turn the markers back on later if another use for excess feathers becomes worthwhile.

So the practical approach is simple: finish your Monolith first, keep a reserve of leftover feathers, and only Substance Morph what you actually need for Power Shards. Until Global receives another confirmed use for them, there is no need to either hoard every feather on the map or convert your entire supply immediately.
