Awakening Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance unlocks additional abilities that are unavailable when a Vision first joins your roster. You may start finding Magicite before the feature itself becomes available, but the game does not let you spend it immediately. Vision Enhancement opens later in Chapter 1 after the Siren's Tower portion of the story.

How to Awaken Visions in Final Fantasy Resonance
To awaken a Vision in Final Fantasy Resonance, first unlock Vision Enhancement by meeting the Moogle of Light in Grandport Harbor near the end of Chapter 1. Speak to the Moogle again, select the Vision you want to improve, then spend the required Magicite to increase its Awakening.
Each Vision begins without any Awakening stars and can be upgraded three times. The first upgrade requires a Magicite Shard, the second requires Magicite, and the final upgrade requires a Magicite Cryst. Reaching the final stage gives the Vision three stars.
Vision Awakening Materials:
1-Star Awakening — Magicite Shard
2-Star Awakening — Magicite
3-Star Awakening — Magicite Cryst
You have to upgrade the Vision in order. A stockpile of smaller Magicite Shards cannot replace the full Magicite or Magicite Cryst required for the later stages.
How to Unlock Vision Enhancement
Vision Awakening becomes available during the later part of Chapter 1. Continue the story through Siren's Tower and defeat Siren. Afterward, the main objective directs you back toward Grandport Harbor so the party can leave by ship.
When you return to Grandport, a story sequence introduces the Moogle of Light near the item shop. The Moogle explains how Magicite can draw more power out of your Visions and gives you a Magicite Shard as part of the introduction.
Speak to the Moogle again after the scene to open the Vision Enhancement menu. From there, choose one of your collected Visions, check the required material, and confirm the Awakening.
If you are still building your roster, the Final Fantasy Resonance all Visions locations guide covers where and when all 26 Visions can be obtained.
What Does Awakening a Vision Do?
Awakening expands the abilities available from a Vision. A newly acquired Vision only gives you part of its complete kit, while spending Magicite unlocks additional active skills and passive effects as its Awakening increases.
This makes Awakening different from simply collecting more Visions. A character you already use heavily can gain considerably more utility as you invest the stronger grades of Magicite into it.
You also need to fully awaken at least one Vision for the Awakened Light achievement. That means taking a single Vision through all three upgrades until it reaches 3-Star Awakening. Our Final Fantasy Resonance achievements guide covers the rest of the completion requirements.
How to Get Magicite for Vision Awakening
Magicite comes from several parts of Final Fantasy Resonance rather than one dedicated source. You can find it in treasure chests, earn it from quests, receive it from certain bosses and unique enemies, and obtain additional pieces through later activities such as the Colosseum and Oblivion Palace.
The three grades correspond to increasingly powerful Awakening upgrades. Magicite Shards are the earliest and most common, full Magicite becomes available as you progress further, and Magicite Crysts are used for the final 3-Star upgrade.
Do not confuse Magicite Shards with Tablet Shards. Tablet Shards are a separate collectible used at Oblivion Palace. They can eventually lead to rewards that include Magicite, but the Tablet Shards themselves cannot be spent in the Vision Enhancement menu.
You can also buy the different Magicite grades from the Colosseum later in the game, although the stronger versions become expensive. That makes naturally earned Magicite worth using carefully on Visions you actually intend to keep in your regular party setup.
Vision Awakening vs Mastery Rank
Awakening Level and Mastery Rank are two separate forms of Vision progression. Awakening is increased manually by spending Magicite through Vision Enhancement. Mastery Rank develops through combat while a Vision is equipped and earns MRP.
In practical terms, fighting with a Vision will not automatically awaken it, and spending Magicite will not replace the combat needed to increase its Mastery Rank. You will use both systems if you want to draw out the Vision's full set of bonuses and abilities.
Once Vision Enhancement is unlocked in Grandport, you can return to the Moogle of Light whenever you have the appropriate Magicite and continue upgrading your Visions as stronger materials become available.
