The Sauna in Graveyard Keeper 2 is a functional pre-order bonus located near the Keeper's home, not just an extra decoration. Using it gives you the Steamed Up buff, which increases the Energy restored by food by 10%. That makes the Sauna most useful when you're burning through meals during long crafting or gathering sessions, since every piece of food becomes slightly more efficient while the effect is active. The Sauna was included with the game's pre-order bonus alongside a platform-specific outfit.

What Does the Sauna Do in Graveyard Keeper 2?
Using the Sauna gives the Keeper a buff called Steamed Up. While that buff is active, food restores 10% more Energy than it normally would.
The increase is based on the food's base Energy value. A meal that normally restores 80 Energy gives 88 with Steamed Up, while something worth 120 Energy becomes 132. Because it scales with the original value of the food, stronger meals receive a larger raw increase than small snacks.

Example: 120 Energy becomes 132.
Best use: Activate it before a food-heavy work session rather than eating first and visiting the Sauna afterward.
That last part is where the Sauna becomes more useful than the percentage initially suggests. It doesn't replace food; it makes the food you're already carrying go further.
Where to Find the Sauna
The Sauna is outside the Keeper's house and can be found just over the nearby bridge. If your save has access to the pre-order content, you shouldn't need to research a technology or construct the Sauna yourself before using it.
The bonus content is separate from the normal building progression. Nintendo's official pre-order listing specifically describes it as a personal Sauna outside the player's house, alongside the exclusive outfit included in the same bonus.
So if you've been searching the Tech Tree or construction menus for a Sauna recipe, you're looking in the wrong place. Go back to the area around your house and cross the bridge instead.
Steamed Up Rewards Better Food More
A flat 10% bonus sounds like every food benefits equally, but the raw Energy saved depends on what you're eating. That gives the Sauna more value once you're regularly carrying stronger meals.
An Elder's Meal goes from 120 to 132 Energy, which is a 12-Energy increase. Foods such as Fisherman's Pie and Burger go from 80 to 88, while 60-Energy meals like Fried Golden Carp, Heavenly Salmon, and Kraken Steak rise to 66.
I wouldn't change your entire food setup just to maximize the Sauna. The better approach is to use whatever meal already makes sense for your current production, then let Steamed Up improve it for free. If you're already carrying higher-value food, the buff simply stretches those supplies further.
This also means the Sauna is less impressive if your inventory is full of very low-Energy snacks. Ten percent is still ten percent, but the absolute gain per item is smaller.
Use the Sauna Before the Work That Actually Drains You
The Sauna makes the most sense before a long block of manual work rather than as something you visit automatically every morning. If you're about to spend the day chopping, mining, crafting, building, or doing anything else that will force you through several meals, that's when the extra Energy efficiency has the most room to matter.
It is especially useful early in progression, when every ingredient and finished meal is more noticeable. Saving a few Energy here and there across multiple foods can delay the point where you need to stop what you're doing and cook, sleep, or restock.
Later on, stronger food production, better infrastructure, mastery, and automation can reduce how important that advantage feels. The Sauna still improves food, but a 10% bonus matters more when Energy management is actively constraining your day.
That makes it a convenience bonus rather than a system you should plan your entire playthrough around.
The Sauna Was a Graveyard Keeper 2 Pre-Order Bonus
The Sauna was distributed as part of the Graveyard Keeper 2 pre-order bonus. The same package also included an exclusive outfit for the Keeper, with the costume differing by platform.
Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo each received their own themed pre-order clothing, while the Sauna itself provides the gameplay benefit shared by the bonus.
The sources available at launch identify the Sauna as pre-order content. They do not establish a normal in-game unlock path for players who did not receive the bonus, nor do they confirm whether it will eventually be sold or distributed separately. I would not assume either way until tinyBuild or Lazy Bear Games confirms it.
What to Check If Your Sauna Is Missing
If you pre-ordered Graveyard Keeper 2 but can't find the Sauna, first make sure the pre-order bonus content is actually installed or recognized by your platform. Saves with the bonus can display a Bonus Content Unlocked message.
Then check the area just over the bridge near the Keeper's house. The Sauna isn't tied to the Dresser or the outfit system, so you do not need to unlock Suit Up! just to access the Sauna itself.
The outfit works differently. Pre-order clothes are equipped through the Dresser with mirror inside the Keeper's house, and that furniture becomes available through the Suit Up! technology. Don't use the absence of the Dresser as evidence that your Sauna hasn't unlocked.
