Graveyard Keeper 2 Vine Press Guide: Unlock & Recipes
The Vine Press is one of Graveyard Keeper 2's stranger early unlocks because researching Cold Pressing doesn't necessarily mean you can actually build it yet. The technology appears fairly early in Farming, but the workstation needs materials that can remain unavailable until you've advanced farther through Jack's side of the game.

Build the Vine Press in the Vineyard Basement
The Vine Press is built inside the Vineyard Basement after researching Cold Pressing.
It costs 6 Wooden Planks, 4 Wooden Beams, and 8 Iron Details.

The station doesn't use Fuel, but it also doesn't run by itself. Either the Keeper needs to operate it or you can eventually assign a sufficiently skilled zombie worker.
Cold Pressing Can Unlock Before You Have Wooden Beams
If you've researched Cold Pressing but still can't build the Vine Press, the problem may not be the technology at all.
Wooden Beams can remain unavailable well after the Vine Press itself appears in the Farming tree. Players advancing normally have reported reaching Cold Pressing before Jack's quests and reputation have opened the later woodworking options needed for the station.
If the Vine Press Is Still Unbuildable
• Confirm Cold Pressing is researched
• Make sure you're building inside the Vineyard Basement
• Check whether Wooden Beams are actually available to you yet
• Continue Jack's quests and related Town content if they aren't
• Return once you can produce all 4 Wooden Beams
So I wouldn't treat Cold Pressing as the moment the Vine Press truly becomes available. It unlocks the blueprint and the first recipes, but your current woodworking access determines when you can realistically construct it.
Cold Pressing Starts With Apple, Berry, and Blueberry Juice
The Vine Press eventually has six recipes, but only the first three come directly from Cold Pressing.
Apple Juice and Berry Juice are the easiest, both requiring Farming Mastery 3. Blueberry Juice raises that requirement to Farming Mastery 6.

• Apple Juice: 6 Apples + Empty Bottle — Farming Mastery 3
• Berry Juice: 6 Berries + Empty Bottle — Farming Mastery 3
• Blueberry Juice: 6 Blueberries + Empty Bottle — Farming Mastery 6
Every recipe needs an Empty Bottle, which is easy to overlook when deciding whether the Vine Press is worth prioritizing. You're not simply converting spare fruit directly into a drink; bottles are part of the production cost too.

Winemaking Adds Bronze, Silver, and Gold Grape Juice
The other half of the Vine Press doesn't unlock through Cold Pressing at all.

Each quality tier has its own Farming Mastery requirement.
Grape Juice Recipes
• Bronze Grape Juice: 6 Bronze Grapes + Empty Bottle — Mastery 10
• Silver Grape Juice: 6 Silver Grapes + Empty Bottle — Mastery 12
• Gold Grape Juice: 6 Gold Grapes + Empty Bottle — Mastery 14
• All three require Winemaking
That makes the Vine Press a workstation that scales much farther than its early position in the Farming tree suggests. Apple and Berry Juice are low-Mastery crafts, while high-quality Grapes push the same station all the way to Farming Mastery 14.
The Vine Press Has a Huge Farming Mastery Range
The easiest Vine Press recipes require only Farming Mastery 3, while Gold-quality Grape Juice reaches 14.
That spread matters most once zombies enter the equation. A zombie that can comfortably make Apple Juice may still be nowhere near capable of processing your best Grapes.

• Blueberry Juice: 6
• Bronze Grape Juice: 10
• Silver Grape Juice: 12
• Gold Grape Juice: 14
If a recipe is visible but won't start, compare your current Farming Mastery against that specific juice rather than assuming the workstation is bugged.
Zombies Can Operate the Vine Press
The Vine Press supports zombie workers, making it much more useful once your Vineyard starts producing enough fruit to justify repeated batches.
Assign a zombie to the station and make sure its Farming Mastery reaches the requirement of the juice you've queued.
A worker that lacks enough Mastery simply won't begin that recipe.
Automating the Vine Press
• Assign a zombie to the station
• Equip it for enough Farming Mastery
• Queue a juice recipe it can actually perform
• Keep the required fruit and Empty Bottles available
• Use your wider supply network if you want materials moved automatically
This is where specialization starts to matter. A basic farming worker may be fine for Apple or Berry Juice, while Silver and Gold Grapes demand a much stronger Farming setup.

Don't Rush the Vine Press Just Because Cold Pressing Is Available
The Vine Press looks like an early-game workstation in the technology tree, but I wouldn't force the materials for it the moment Cold Pressing appears.
If you haven't established an Orchard, aren't producing Grapes yet, and only have occasional Berries, the press doesn't have much raw material to work with anyway. Simpler foods can cover your immediate Energy needs without requiring fruit, bottles, and a relatively expensive workstation.
Its value rises once you have repeatable fruit production.
When the Vine Press Starts Making Sense
• Wooden Beams are already unlocked
• Your Orchard produces Apples consistently
• You're developing the Vineyard and Winemaking
• You have enough Empty Bottles for repeated batches
• You want a zombie to handle juice production for you
That also explains the unusual gap between researching Cold Pressing and actually constructing the machine. Unlocking the press early doesn't mean you need it immediately; by the time its materials and better recipes are available, you should have much more fruit worth processing through it.
