Deranking and Rank Decay Explained in Marvel Rivals
In Marvel Rivals players can lose rank points if they lose matches in Competitive mode or don’t play for a while (rank decay). This means it's possible to move down in ranks, a process known as "deranking." However, the game includes features to help prevent immediate deranking.
Chrono Shields
As you progress through the ranks you can earn items called Chrono Shields. These shields protect you from losing rank points after a defeat. If you have a Chrono Shield and lose a match, the shield will be used up, and your rank points won't decrease for that loss. This gives you a chance to recover and win future matches without the fear of deranking immediately.
Rank Decay at Higher Levels
At the highest ranks, like Eternity and One Above All, there's a system called rank decay. If you don't play matches for a while, you can start to lose rank points over time, which might lead to deranking. This system is similar to other competitive games out there to encourage players to stay active in the game to maintain their ranks.
Playing with Friends
When playing with friends, you can team up with players who are within one rank tier of you. For example, if you're in Gold rank, you can play with friends in Silver or Platinum.
Tips to Avoid Deranking
Teamwork: Work closely with your team to increase your chances of winning matches. Don’t be toxic is probably the no.1 rule that will help you over time.
Practice: Regularly practice with different heroes to improve your skills.
Stay Active: Play matches consistently, especially at higher ranks, to avoid rank decay.
