How to Survive the Reaper

The Reaper is slow, deaf, and not very bright, but it makes up for it with deadly arm blades and loud, hay-like footsteps. It has terrible eyesight, so crouching usually keeps you safe, but it’s best not to push your luck.

What Makes It Dangerous?

  • Charges and slashes wildly if it spots you, dealing massive damage.

  • Has terrible object permanence—turn a corner, and it usually forgets about you.

  • Can’t hear voices, footsteps, or jumping but detects the gravi-beam, so picking up items near it is a bad idea.

How to Avoid It

  • Stay out of its direct line of sight and crouch when necessary.

  • If it starts chasing, break line of sight as quickly as possible.

  • Never use the gravi-beam around it unless you want to get noticed.

How to Fight It

  • Predictable patrols make it a good practice target for melee weapons or tranq guns.

  • Its wild swings can knock weapons out of your hands, so don’t get too close unless you’re confident.

  • Use objects as cover—it struggles with obstacles and tight spaces.

Final Tip

The Reaper is dangerous if you get careless, but it’s also one of the easiest enemies to avoid. Just don’t pick up loot near it, and if it starts chasing, a quick turn around a corner will usually be enough to make it forget you exist.
