How to Survive the Shadow Child

The Shadow Child is a slender, teleporting creature that appears and disappears at random, always announced by eerie child laughter. It doesn’t chase players, but if you look at it for too long, it will jumpscare you, say "yoink," deal 30 damage, and fling you across the room, which often leads to extra physics damage.

What Makes It Dangerous?

  • Appears suddenly and vanishes quickly.

  • Looking at it for more than a few seconds triggers its attack.

  • Knockback can send you into hazards, which is the real danger.

How to Avoid It

  • Look away as soon as it appears.

  • Wait it out—it usually disappears within ten seconds.

  • Avoid standing near ledges or dangerous objects to prevent fatal knockback damage.

How to Fight It

  • Not worth fighting, but if it's in a bad spot, hitting it once with a melee weapon will kill it.

  • Has extremely low HP and dies instantly to most attacks.

Final Tip

The Shadow Child is more of a nuisance than a true threat, unless it throws you into something lethal. If you hear laughter, look away, move carefully, and let it disappear on its own—or hit it if you need it gone faster.
