AION 2 How to Get Rid of Old Gear
Replacing gear in AION 2 creates a second problem almost immediately: what are you supposed to do with the old piece? You usually should not just delete equipment or automatically dismantle everything. Old gear can still be useful for Item Extraction, Inheritance, Syncing, Supply Requests, selling, or storage depending on the item.

What Should You Do With Old Gear in AION 2?
For most ordinary replaced gear in AION 2, use Item Extraction to dismantle it and recover useful value instead of letting it fill your Cube. Before extracting anything valuable, however, check whether the item should be used for Inheritance, Syncing, a Supply Request, or sold instead.
If you already know you want to break the item down, our AION 2 How to Dismantle Gear guide covers exactly where Item Extraction is and how to use it.
The fastest rule I use is this:
Normal replaced gear: Extract it.
Heavily enhanced gear: Check Inheritance first.
Unique gear: Check whether you need it for Syncing.
Requested equipment: Consider a Supply Request.
Tradable valuable gear: Check the Market before destroying it.
Not sure yet: Put it in Storage.
The important part is checking the item before you remove it permanently. Extraction is usually the default destination for junk equipment, but the wrong old piece can still be worth considerably more through another system.
Extract Old Gear You No Longer Need
Item Extraction is the normal way to get rid of outdated weapons, armor, and accessories in AION 2.
Open your Cube with I and use the Item Extraction option at the bottom-right of the inventory. Select the old equipment, check the Kina cost, and confirm the extraction.
Extraction can turn otherwise useless equipment into useful materials and can also contribute gear appearances to your Closet. That makes it a much better default than simply trying to remove an item from your inventory.
For the exact Extraction steps, Quick Select details, and reasons an item may not appear in the menu, see our full AION 2 dismantling guide.
Extract gear when:
You have permanently replaced it.
It has no important enhancement investment.
You do not need it for Syncing or Supply Requests.
It has little or no useful Market value.
Quick Select can help when clearing several items at once, but I would still inspect the selected equipment before confirming. Losing one useful item is not worth saving a few seconds.
Use Inheritance Before Getting Rid of Upgraded Gear
Do not immediately extract an old item if you have already invested heavily into enhancing or Soul Binding it.
Inheritance lets eligible equipment pass important investment from the old piece into a replacement. Depending on the equipment involved, that can include Enhancement progress, Soul Binding effects, affixes, and other developed properties.
This is most relevant when your "old gear" is not actually junk. You may have replaced its base stats or Item Level, but a large amount of resources may still be tied up in the item.
Before extracting upgraded gear:
Check its Enhancement Level.
Check its Soul Binding effects.
Check whether those upgrades can transfer to the replacement.
Compare the transfer cost against simply rebuilding the new piece.
If you have barely invested in the item, Extraction may still be simpler. The more resources you have already poured into it, the more important this check becomes.
Use Old Unique Gear for Syncing
Unique gear deserves another check before Extraction because it can have value through Syncing.
Syncing is part of the Soul Binding system and allows equipment to help change or obtain Binding Effects. That means a Unique item with worse raw stats can still be useful even after you find a stronger replacement.
The decision here is not simply "old item versus new item." Ask whether the old Unique piece can improve the Binding setup on the gear you are actually keeping.
If it can, use it for Syncing instead of dismantling it for general materials.
Check Whether Old Gear Is Needed for a Supply Request
Some old equipment can be turned in through Supply Requests, so check the item before extracting it.
Supply Requests exchange specific requested items for rewards, which can include useful currencies and Enhancement materials. Crafted equipment can be particularly relevant here.
Look for the Supply Request indicator on eligible equipment. If the item is currently requested, compare the turn-in reward with what you would receive from simply extracting it.
Supply Request check:
Is this exact item currently requested?
Do you need the Supply Request reward?
Have you already gotten the item's Closet value if relevant?
Would Extraction be more useful for your current upgrades?
There is no reason to automatically send every eligible item into Supply Requests either. The point is that requested gear has another possible value before you destroy it.
Sell Old Gear If It Still Has Market Value
If the old item is tradable, check what it is worth before dismantling it.
Another player may want the equipment for gearing, crafting, Syncing, or another system even though it is useless to your current character. In that situation, Kina can be more valuable than the Extraction return.
This is especially worth checking on rarer equipment rather than every low-value quest reward you pick up.
Sell instead of extract when:
The item is tradable.
There is actual demand for it.
Its Market value is worth more to you than the Extraction materials.
If the item is bound, untradable, or selling for almost nothing, move on to one of the other options.
Store Old Gear If You Are Unsure What to Do With It
If you are looking at a heavily enhanced, Unique, or otherwise unusual piece of equipment and are not sure whether you still need it, put it in Storage instead of making a permanent decision immediately.
Storage does not solve the old-gear problem forever, but it is the safest choice when you have not yet figured out whether the item belongs in Inheritance, Syncing, a Supply Request, or the Market.
This is particularly useful when you are replacing several pieces at once. Equip the upgrades, store anything questionable, and then clean the remaining obvious junk out through Item Extraction.
For routine equipment upgrades, the process can be boiled down to one simple order: check whether the item has special value first, then extract whatever is genuinely finished.
Best order for old gear:
1. Check whether the item is valuable or heavily upgraded.
2. Use Inheritance if you need to preserve investment.
3. Check Unique gear for Syncing value.
4. Check Supply Requests.
5. Check the Market if the item is tradable.
6. Extract ordinary gear you no longer need.
7. Store anything you are still unsure about.
