AION 2 How to Server Transfer

AION 2 server transfers let you move existing characters without starting over, but the system has several restrictions that can prevent a destination from appearing even during an active transfer period. Early Access and regular Global servers are separated, destination servers can be restricted, and some server-specific data does not move with your characters.

AION 2 How to Server Transfer

To server transfer in AION 2, take your character to Safe Haven or Nornir Assembly and open the Server Transfer section of the Cash Shop. Select the destination server first, choose the characters you want to move, decide which server's Genus Insights progress you want to retain, then review and confirm the transfer rules.

Your destination must be eligible for your current server type. Characters on Advanced Access servers can transfer only to other Advanced Access servers during their applicable transfer period, while regular Global servers use their own transfer pool.

If the server you want is greyed out or unavailable, that does not necessarily mean you are using the transfer menu incorrectly. AION 2 can restrict destination servers based on current transfer limits and server conditions.

What to Do Before Transferring Servers

Do not confirm a transfer immediately after choosing a destination. Several types of server-specific data are excluded from the move, so it is worth cleaning up anything important before leaving your current server.

Remove anything you want to keep from Server Storage, deal with outstanding Market activity, and check your Mailbox before transferring. These systems are among the things that do not carry over to the destination server.

You should also check the character count on the destination. A server can hold up to eight characters, and the transfer interface lets you move multiple eligible characters together, but the destination still needs enough room for them.

If you are transferring primarily to join somebody else, confirm their exact server and faction before committing. Our AION 2 How to Play With Friends guide covers the other requirements that can prevent players from grouping together.

AION 2 Free Server Transfer Dates

The initial Global server-transfer rollout uses separate windows for Advanced Access and regular launch servers.

Advanced Access transfers run from October 13 through October 20, 2026 PDT, corresponding to October 14 through October 21 in CEST.

The regular free-to-play Global transfer period begins October 20 PDT and continues through October 27 PDT, corresponding to October 21 through October 28 in Europe.

Transfers are not available continuously throughout every day. NC opens them during scheduled blocks depending on region.

For North America and South America, the listed daily windows are 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM PDT and 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM PDT.

Europe uses 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM PDT and 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM PDT, while Asia uses 8:00 PM to midnight PDT followed by 2:00 AM to 6:00 AM PDT.

Because these are limited daily windows, seeing the transfer option unavailable outside those times does not necessarily mean the overall transfer event has ended.

Why Is My AION 2 Server Restricted for Transfer?

A destination server can be unavailable even while server transfers are active. Transfer access is not an unrestricted list of every server in the region; departure and destination limits can be used to control where characters are allowed to move.

This has been especially noticeable during the first transfer window, with players finding that some otherwise eligible Advanced Access servers cannot currently accept additional transfers.

There are two separate restrictions to keep in mind. First, Advanced Access characters cannot simply use the transfer system to move onto regular launch servers during the Advanced Access-only period. Second, an otherwise compatible server may still be temporarily unavailable as a destination.

Community reports suggest that availability can sometimes change between transfer windows as players move between servers. That means it can be worth checking again later if your preferred destination is currently restricted, although there is no guarantee that a particular server will reopen during the same transfer period.

A server transfer also should not be treated as a faction-change system. If the reason you are moving is faction population or playing with friends on the opposite faction, make sure the destination actually solves that problem before confirming the move. Our AION 2 faction differences guide covers the separation between Asmodians and Elyos.

What Transfers With Your AION 2 Character?

The transfer system is designed to move your selected characters to the new server rather than requiring you to rebuild them from scratch. During the process, you can choose the characters being transferred and separately decide which Genus Insights progression should survive the move.

The important distinction is that character data and server-level systems are not treated identically. Some information belongs specifically to the server you are leaving and is excluded from the transfer, which is why checking storage, mail, and market activity beforehand matters.

What Does Not Transfer Between AION 2 Servers?

Server Storage contents and currency do not transfer to the new server. Anything important stored there should therefore be dealt with before confirming the move.

Mailbox rewards also do not transfer, nor does active Market content. Server-based Cash Shop purchase history remains behind as well.

Character slots themselves are another server-specific unlock and do not move with your characters. If you expanded the number of available character slots on the old server, do not assume the destination will inherit those additional slots.

Your recent competitive history is affected too. The previous 10-match history for Arena and Battlefield is reset after transferring.

This makes the transfer closer to moving your characters into a new server environment than cloning everything associated with your old server account state.

Can You Transfer Multiple Characters in AION 2?

Yes. The transfer process allows you to select multiple characters and move them together rather than repeating the entire process for every alt.

A server supports up to eight characters, so you can potentially move a full group of characters at once as long as the destination has enough available capacity for them.

This is particularly useful if your characters are part of the same overall setup and you do not want your main and alts split across different servers after moving.

Keep in mind that additional character slots themselves do not transfer. Check the destination's available slots before assuming every character from the original server will fit.

Which Genus Insights Should You Keep When Server Transferring?

AION 2 gives you a choice when transferring instead of automatically overwriting one server's Genus Insights with the other. During the transfer process, scroll to the Genus Insights section and choose whether you want to retain the progress associated with your current server or the destination server.

In most cases, choose whichever side has more Genus Insights progress. This prevents a move from unnecessarily replacing a more developed set of bonuses with a weaker one.

Pay particular attention to this step if you already played characters on the destination server. The correct choice may not automatically be the server you are leaving, especially if you previously built substantial Genus Insights progress on both.

After making that selection, review the transfer rules in the final confirmation prompt and scroll through them before submitting the request. Once your destination, characters, and Genus Insights choice are correct, you can complete the server transfer.
