AION 2 Where to Find Ruby

Ruby is a crafting material in AION 2 that comes from gemstone gathering nodes found in specific Hunting Grounds. Your available locations depend on whether you are Elyos or Asmodian, so heading to the right region is much more important than searching every rocky area you come across.

Where Ruby is Located

Ruby can be gathered from gemstone nodes around rocky cliffs inside certain Hunting Grounds. Elyos can find it in Calderon Canyon and Basfelt Ruins, while Asmodians have Ruby nodes in Verteron Fortress Ruins, Destroyed Abyss Gate, Garden of the Illusion God, and Southern Altamia Highland.

Elyos: Calderon Canyon, Basfelt Ruins
Asmodian: Verteron Fortress Ruins, Destroyed Abyss Gate, Garden of the Illusion God, Southern Altamia Highland
Where to look: Rocky cliffs and surrounding stone terrain

Once you enter one of these Hunting Grounds, concentrate on the rocky portions of the area instead of sweeping the entire map. Ruby does not appear evenly across every part of the zone.

Elyos Ruby Locations

Elyos players can gather Ruby in Calderon Canyon and Basfelt Ruins.

Both are worth checking depending on where you already are, so there is no reason to cross the map just because one location is supposed to be your permanent farming spot. Enter either Hunting Ground and follow the cliffside and rocky sections while watching for gemstone gathering nodes.

If you reach an area and the expected nodes are missing, another player may have already gathered them. The nodes are shared between players, so moving farther through the Hunting Ground is usually better than standing around waiting for one specific spawn.

Asmodian Ruby Locations

Asmodian players have four Hunting Grounds where Ruby can appear: Verteron Fortress Ruins, Destroyed Abyss Gate, Garden of the Illusion God, and Southern Altamia Highland.

Having more available areas gives you an easy alternative when one spot is busy. If the rocky sections of one Hunting Ground have already been picked over, move to another Ruby area instead of competing over the same small set of nodes.

Destroyed Abyss Gate: Ruby available
Garden of the Illusion God: Ruby available
Southern Altamia Highland: Ruby available

How to Farm Ruby in AION 2

The most consistent way to get Ruby is to gather it directly from its nodes. A Ruby source can be extracted up to three times before it is exhausted, and each extraction also gives Essence Extraction EXP.

I would farm by following a short route through the rocky sections of one Hunting Ground rather than running from one side of the entire zone to the other. Once you start recognizing the terrain where gemstone nodes appear, repeating the same smaller loop makes it easier to check several possible spawns quickly.

Because the nodes are shared, another player can partially gather a source before you reach it. If a route is consistently empty, move to another section or another Ruby Hunting Ground instead of assuming the material is not spawning.

Ruby Gemstone Rarities

Ruby comes in several qualities, and higher-level crafting can call for the rarer versions rather than the basic material.

Common: Ruby Gemstone
Rare: Fine Ruby Gemstone
Epic: Pure Ruby Gemstone
Unique: Radiant Ruby Gemstone

I would avoid getting rid of the higher-rarity versions just because your current recipe only needs normal Ruby. Pure and Radiant Ruby Gemstones are used for higher-tier crafting, so they can become useful once you move into better equipment.

Other Ways to Get Ruby

You do not have to gather every Ruby yourself. Ruby can also appear through Duty Quest rewards, although this is not as dependable as deliberately heading to a Hunting Ground and gathering it.

The other option is the Market. If you only need a small amount to finish a recipe, buying the missing gemstones can save more time than leaving what you are doing to start a full gathering route.

Check the material's exact rarity before buying anything because Ruby Gemstone, Fine Ruby Gemstone, Pure Ruby Gemstone, and Radiant Ruby Gemstone are separate materials. If you are unfamiliar with how player sales work on Global, our AION 2 trading guide covers the Market and the game's lack of direct player-to-player trading.

What Is Ruby Used For in AION 2?

Ruby is primarily a crafting material used when making equipment. The quality required depends on the recipe, with better gear eventually calling for higher-rarity Ruby materials such as Pure Ruby Gemstone and Radiant Ruby Gemstone.

Gathering it also serves a second purpose because every extraction contributes Essence Extraction EXP. Even if you already have enough Ruby for the item you are currently crafting, gathering nodes can still help advance your extraction skill while building a reserve for later recipes.
