AION 2 Black Cloud Merchant Guide
The Black Cloud Merchant is a rotating AION 2 shop that can sell pets, skins, Theostones, and other useful items for regular in-game currency. Its inventory changes every hour and is different for each character, which makes it worth checking regularly if you are hunting a particular cosmetic, pet, or discounted item.

What Is the Black Cloud Merchant in AION 2?
The Black Cloud Merchant is an hourly rotating shop with a large item pool that includes pets, skins, Theostones, and other items. It is not a normal NPC merchant you need to find somewhere in the world.
Instead, the merchant appears inside AION 2's shop interface and shows only a small selection from a pool of roughly 2,200 possible items at a time. The available offers then rotate automatically every hour.
Location: Shop menu
Unlock: Available from Level 1
Factions: Elyos and Asmodians
Automatic refresh: Every hour
Inventory: Different for each character
Item pool: Roughly 2,200 items
Where to Find the Black Cloud Merchant
Open the main Shop with H, then look toward the upper-left portion of the shop interface for the Black Cloud Merchant section.
The shop is easy to overlook because it sits inside the same broader interface used for AION 2's other store features. You do not need Membership to physically travel to a merchant or locate a special NPC.
Once inside, you can move between the available Black Cloud Merchant tabs and inspect whatever has appeared in the current rotation.
How the Black Cloud Merchant Refresh Works
The Black Cloud Merchant automatically refreshes its offers once per hour. That hourly reset is free, so if you are waiting for a particular skin or pet, simply checking whenever the rotation changes is usually the most economical approach.
You can also manually refresh the shop with Kina, but the price increases as you continue refreshing during the same cycle.
1st refresh: 500 Kina
2nd: 1,000 Kina
3rd: 2,000 Kina
4th: 3,000 Kina
5th: 4,000 Kina
6th: 6,000 Kina
7th: 8,000 Kina
8th: 10,000 Kina
9th: 12,000 Kina
10th: 15,000 Kina
That escalation makes repeated rerolling expensive very quickly. Ten manual refreshes cost 61,500 Kina in total, so I would not repeatedly reroll just because you are looking for one specific pet or cosmetic.
The free hourly rotation is effectively another attempt with no cost. Unless the item you are chasing is especially valuable to you, waiting is usually better than dumping tens of thousands of Kina into refreshes.
What Does the Black Cloud Merchant Sell?
The shop is divided into several categories, with Special, Pets, and Skins making up the most important parts of the rotation.
Special: Utility and progression items, including Bound Theostones
Pets: Pets pulled from a pool of roughly 200 options
Skins: Cosmetic appearances from the larger Black Cloud item pool
The exact inventory is random, and some offers can be considerably more interesting than others. Players have reported dungeon cosmetics such as Kromede equipment appearances showing up in the shop, which can provide another route to a skin you would otherwise be farming through drops and extraction.
You can preview skins before buying them. Select the smaller item icon in the shop and use the eye icon to view the appearance before spending your Kina.
Why You Should Check the Black Cloud Merchant on Alts
One of the best things to know about the Black Cloud Merchant is that its rotation is character-specific. Your main and your alt can have completely different items available during the same hourly window.
If you have four characters, that effectively gives you four separate Black Cloud inventories to inspect every hour rather than only one.
This is especially useful when searching for pets or skins because those collection systems are shared between characters on the same server. Our AION 2 shared character progress guide explains which other systems carry across your roster.
There is one catch: the character seeing the offer still needs enough Kina to actually purchase it. Checking every alt does not help much if the item you have been waiting for finally appears on a character that cannot afford it.
Main character shop: One rotation
Alt character shop: Separate rotation
Best strategy: Check each character after the hourly reset
Important: Keep enough Kina available on characters you regularly check
Should You Buy Pets From the Black Cloud Merchant?
The Black Cloud Merchant can be a useful shortcut for pets, but I would not repeatedly pay for refreshes just to hunt one specific pet.
If you already know which pet you want, check its acquisition source in the Pet menu first. Many pets can be unlocked directly by farming the corresponding monster for Souls, with five Souls enough to unlock many launch pets.
The Black Cloud Merchant is better treated as an opportunity. If a pet you want happens to appear during the free hourly rotation at a price you are happy with, you can skip some of that farming.

What Is Worth Buying From the Black Cloud Merchant?
I would prioritize items you already planned to obtain rather than treating every discounted listing as something you need to buy.
Skins can be particularly appealing when a dungeon appearance you want shows up, since buying it can bypass repeated runs and the RNG involved in getting the appropriate cosmetic unlock. Pets can also be worthwhile when the merchant happens to offer one you were already planning to farm.
Special items require more judgment. Bound Theostones and similar progression materials can be useful, but spending large amounts of Kina or repeatedly refreshing the shop for something you can obtain elsewhere can turn the merchant into an expensive currency sink.
Usually worth checking: Rare skins you already want
Potentially worthwhile: Pets you were already farming
Compare first: Theostones and other obtainable materials
Avoid: Repeated expensive refreshes with no specific value target
The Black Cloud Merchant works best when you treat the hourly refresh as a free opportunity rather than another system you have to constantly spend on. Check it whenever you log in or when the hour rolls over, check your alts as well, and spend when something genuinely useful appears.
