Blue Crystal becomes important once you start expanding your zombie workforce, especially because every Bronze, Golden, and Steel Zombie Collar needs one. It isn't a normal mining drop or something you simply discover in higher-tier ore, and the reliable sources only open after the right character and Swamp progression.

Get Blue Crystal From Gunter or the Goddess of Nature Statue
There are two main ways to get Blue Crystal in Graveyard Keeper 2: buy it from Gunter after raising his trader level, or collect a recurring pile from the Goddess of Nature statue in the Swamp after completing the required story progression.
You do not need to find a Blue Crystal mine, wash it from Sand, or craft the raw material through Alchemy.
Blue Crystal Sources
• Gunter: Available starting at Trader Level 2
• Goddess of Nature statue: Gives a pile of 4 Blue Crystals
• Statue pile returns at the start of each Envy after the Swamp progression is complete
If you're trying to make more Zombie Collars and haven't seen either source yet, keep progressing Gunter and the Swamp storyline rather than searching the map for a resource node.
Gunter Sells Blue Crystal at Trader Level 2
Gunter becomes your straightforward paid source of Blue Crystal.
His stock includes Blue Crystal starting at Trader Level 2, with up to 10 available at his normal stock level. The listed base value is 75 Bronze each.
This makes Gunter the easiest option when you're only missing one or two crystals for an immediate craft and don't want to wait for the recurring Swamp supply.
I would use Gunter as the convenience option rather than automatically buying out his entire stock. Once the Swamp source is running, you have a renewable way to accumulate crystals without turning every new Zombie Collar into another money sink.
If Gunter Isn't Selling Blue Crystal
• Keep progressing his character storyline
• Raise his trader level to 2
• Check his stock again after the upgrade
• Don't expect the item to appear immediately after simply meeting him
The Goddess of Nature Statue Gives 4 Blue Crystals
The better long-term source is the Goddess of Nature statue in the Swamp.
After completing Heart of the Swamp, a pile containing 4 Blue Crystals can appear beside the statue at the start of Envy.
There is one progression detail before that loop starts normally. After Goddess in the Swamp, the ritual does not begin supplying Blue Crystals until you ask the statue about "The Man with the Red Eye."
Once that condition is satisfied, the statue becomes a repeatable source rather than a one-time quest reward.
To Unlock the Swamp Blue Crystals
• Progress the Swamp storyline
• Complete Goddess in the Swamp
• Ask the statue about "The Man with the Red Eye"
• Complete Heart of the Swamp
• Return at the start of Envy for the Blue Crystal pile
Collect the Previous Pile Before the Next One Can Spawn
The Swamp does not keep stacking untouched Blue Crystal piles forever.
A new pile of 4 appears at the start of every Envy only if you collected the previous one. If you leave a pile sitting beside the statue, another one won't simply appear on top of it during the next cycle.
That makes the Swamp source something worth folding into your normal weekly route.
I would grab the crystals whenever Envy comes around even if I don't need another Zombie Collar immediately. Blue Crystal feeds into more than one system later, so letting the free supply accumulate in storage is much better than reaching a new recipe and suddenly needing to wait another cycle.

• Visit the Swamp at the start of Envy
• Collect all 4 Blue Crystals beside the statue
• Store extras instead of immediately selling them
• Return next Envy after the previous pile has been collected
Every Zombie Collar Tier Uses Blue Crystal
The reason Blue Crystal starts feeling important is Zombie Collar progression.
Bronze, Golden, and Steel Zombie Collars all require 1 Blue Crystal at the Jewelry Table. That means upgrading your zombie workforce doesn't reduce your dependence on the material; the crystal remains part of every collar tier.

Save Extra Blue Crystals for Alchemy
Zombie Collars are the most obvious reason to hunt for Blue Crystal, but they aren't the only use.
Blue Crystal also functions as an Alchemy ingredient and contributes Blue and Green runes in formulas. It can appear in combinations for materials and consumables including Reanimation Liquid, Umami, Alkali, Berserker Potion III, Philosopher Stone, and Spices.
That makes selling spare crystals a poor trade unless you have a very specific reason for the money. They're renewable, but the weekly Swamp supply is still limited and Gunter's stock costs money.
You can also study one Blue Crystal at the Study Table for 10 Green and 20 Blue technology points at a Science cost of 15. The crystal is kept after studying it, so there is no reason to avoid the research once you have the Science available.

For practical purposes, the best Blue Crystal loop is simple: unlock Gunter for emergency purchases, finish the Swamp storyline for the free recurring pile, and collect those four crystals every Envy.
