Star Wars Galactic Racer Best Vehicle Tier List

There are only three main vehicle types in Star Wars Galactic Racer, but they play differently enough that your choice can completely change how a Tour feels. For this tier list, I am ranking them by overall race-winning potential, how well they handle different track layouts, their weaknesses when something goes wrong, and how strong they become once you actually learn their unique handling mechanic.

Star Wars Galactic Racer Best Vehicle Tier List

The Skim Speeder is my pick for the best vehicle in Star Wars Galactic Racer, followed by the Landspeeder and then the Speeder Bike.

S Tier: Skim Speeder
A Tier: Landspeeder
B Tier: Speeder Bike

This ranking is not based purely on which vehicle is easiest to drive. The Landspeeder would win that comparison. Instead, I am looking at the ceiling each vehicle gives you after its handling starts to click.

The Skim Speeder has the biggest payoff because it combines the highest speed potential with Knife Edge cornering. The Landspeeder sacrifices some of that ceiling for much better stability and consistency, while the Speeder Bike's incredible acceleration comes with enough fragility and handling drawbacks to push it below the other two overall.

S Tier Skim Speeder

The Skim Speeder is the best overall vehicle once you are comfortable using it. Its biggest advantage is speed: it has the strongest top-end potential of the three vehicle types and is particularly good at preserving momentum across long, fast sections of a track.

The tradeoff is that you cannot drive it exactly like the Landspeeder. Normal cornering can feel wide, and trying to force it through turns the same way you would a drift-focused vehicle makes it much harder to control.

Knife Edge is what changes that equation. Learning when to use Knife Edge allows the Skim Speeder to attack much tighter sections without simply giving up the speed advantage that makes the vehicle worthwhile.

Best for: Maximum speed and experienced players
Main strength: Highest performance ceiling
Main weakness: Wider normal cornering and harder recovery from mistakes
Unique mechanic: Knife Edge

The reason I put the Skim Speeder over the Landspeeder is ceiling rather than ease of use. Once you can preserve its speed and use Knife Edge where necessary, it gives you more room to push faster times instead of merely surviving a difficult race.

It also benefits heavily from investing into the right stats. Cornering helps address its biggest limitation, while speed-oriented upgrades let you lean further into what the vehicle already does best. Our Star Wars Galactic Racer best upgrades guide covers which permanent stats I would prioritize first.

A Tier Landspeeder

The Landspeeder is the best all-around choice and easily the vehicle I would recommend to someone still learning Star Wars Galactic Racer.

Its biggest strength is how many situations it handles reasonably well. It has predictable cornering, traditional drifting, better stability during contact, and enough weight that another racer clipping you does not automatically turn into a disaster.

That consistency matters more than it sounds. Galactic Racer has plenty of races where traffic, hazards, corners, and other vehicles can interrupt an otherwise good run. The Landspeeder gives you more room to deal with those situations without completely losing control.

Best for: Beginners and consistent Campaign runs
Main strength: Stability and predictable handling
Main weakness: Lower maximum ceiling than the Skim Speeder
Unique mechanic: Drift

I would still rank it below the Skim Speeder because the things that make the Landspeeder safer do not necessarily make it faster once both vehicles are being driven well. It is the better vehicle for avoiding mistakes, but the Skim Speeder gives you more to work with when you are pushing for maximum performance.

If you are sticking with the Landspeeder, getting comfortable with its cornering mechanic matters a lot. Our Star Wars Galactic Racer drifting guide covers how to use Drift without throwing away your speed through every turn.

B Tier Speeder Bike

The Speeder Bike is not bad, but it is the hardest vehicle for me to recommend over the other two.

Its standout advantage is acceleration. It gets back up to speed quickly and can use Kinetic Burst to create additional bursts of pace, giving it a very aggressive feel when you are constantly accelerating out of slower sections.

The problem is everything you have to give up for that advantage. The Speeder Bike is fragile, more vulnerable when other racers make contact with you, and less forgiving when a high-speed line goes wrong.

Kinetic Burst also takes some adjustment because using it does not simply turn every corner into an easy shortcut. You still need to understand where and when the mechanic works rather than treating it like a universal cornering button.

Best for: Players who value acceleration and burst speed
Main strength: Fast acceleration
Main weakness: Fragility and less room for errors
Unique mechanic: Kinetic Burst

The Bike can absolutely win races, and a player who loves its handling may prefer it to either vehicle above it. I just think its strengths are more situational. The Skim Speeder gives you greater top-end potential, while the Landspeeder provides much more security when a race becomes physical.

That puts the Speeder Bike in B Tier for me: capable, fast, and fun, but requiring more compromises than either alternative.

Which Vehicle Should You Pick?

Your best choice depends on what you actually want the vehicle to do.

Best overall: Skim Speeder
Best for beginners: Landspeeder
Best for maximum speed: Skim Speeder
Best for stability: Landspeeder
Best acceleration: Speeder Bike
Best for physical races: Landspeeder
Highest skill ceiling: Skim Speeder

If you only care about which vehicle I would choose for the strongest possible setup, I would take the Skim Speeder and learn Knife Edge. It asks more from you initially, but its speed gives it the most room to improve as you get better.

If you are struggling with crashes, corners, or other racers knocking you around, switch to the Landspeeder. Finishing a race slightly below the theoretical maximum speed is much better than repeatedly throwing away your run because the faster vehicle does not suit how you drive.

The Speeder Bike is the specialist choice. Pick it because you specifically enjoy its acceleration and Kinetic Burst playstyle rather than because you assume the smallest vehicle must automatically be the fastest.

Your Build Can Change the Vehicle Rankings

The vehicle class is only the starting point. Parts, abilities, and permanent stat upgrades can reduce weaknesses or push an existing strength much further.

For example, investing into Cornering can make a difficult handling profile much easier to manage, while Resilience can help compensate for a vehicle that suffers badly from contact. Afterburner and Ramjet upgrades can also change how much of your pace comes from the vehicle itself versus your boost setup.

This is why I would not treat S, A, and B Tier as three completely separate levels of viability. There are only three vehicle types, and all three can work. The ranking is more about which one gives you the strongest combination of speed, consistency, and room to improve.

How to Unlock Every Vehicle

You begin the Campaign with the Landspeeder. The other two vehicle types become available after defeating Sebulba at the end of Act 1, at which point you can spend Tuning Points to permanently unlock them.

Landspeeder: Unlocked by default
Speeder Bike: 10 Tuning Points
Skim Speeder: 20 Tuning Points

Tuning Points come from completing activities in Tours and Scenarios, and your permanent vehicle unlocks and upgrades remain even if you lose a Tour. In Multiplayer, all three vehicle types are available without needing to unlock them through the Campaign first.

That also means there is little downside to eventually unlocking all three. The better long-term approach is to use the tier list to decide where to spend first, then experiment once you have enough Tuning Points to keep the entire roster available.
