Star Wars Galactic Racer Best Vehicle Type Ranked
Star Wars: Galactic Racer has three standard vehicle types to choose from: the Landspeeder, Speeder Bike, and Skim Speeder. All three can win races, but they reward very different approaches to speed, cornering, acceleration, and surviving mistakes.
For our ranking, we are looking at overall performance once you actually learn each vehicle rather than simply which one feels easiest during the first few races.

Star Wars Galactic Racer Best Vehicle Type Ranked
We rank the Skim Speeder as the best vehicle type overall, followed by the Landspeeder and then the Speeder Bike.
The Skim Speeder takes first because it has the highest performance ceiling once you understand its wider racing lines and Knife Edge cornering. The Landspeeder is easier to use and remains our recommendation for beginners, while the Speeder Bike offers excellent acceleration but punishes collisions and mistakes more heavily.

This ranking can change depending on how you drive. Someone still learning the tracks may get significantly better results from the Landspeeder, while an experienced player who rarely loses momentum can get more out of the Skim Speeder.
1. Skim Speeder
The Skim Speeder is our best vehicle type because Galactic Racer heavily rewards maintaining speed, and this is where the Skim Speeder excels.
Its downside is acceleration. Losing all of your momentum after a crash or badly missed corner hurts more than it does with the other vehicles. The upside is that when you drive cleanly, you can maintain extremely high speeds through large portions of a track.
Knife Edge helps compensate for its naturally wider turning style by allowing you to make much sharper directional changes when needed.
Best For: Experienced players
Main Strength: Maintaining high speed
Main Weakness: Poor recovery after losing momentum
Cornering Mechanic: Knife Edge
Skill Ceiling: Highest of the three
The Skim Speeder gets better as your track knowledge improves. Once you know which corners require Knife Edge, which sections can be taken with a wider line, and where you can safely maintain maximum speed, its weaknesses become much easier to manage.

2. Landspeeder
The Landspeeder is the safest recommendation in Galactic Racer and would be our number one choice for anyone still learning the game.
It combines solid speed with forgiving handling, good stability during collisions, and traditional drifting that is easier to understand than the more specialized cornering mechanics used by the other vehicles.
More importantly, it rarely has a track where it feels completely out of place.
Best For: Beginners and consistent Tour runs
Main Strength: Balanced handling and durability
Main Weakness: Lower maximum potential than the Skim Speeder
Cornering Mechanic: Drift
Skill Floor: Lowest of the three
The Landspeeder also handles traffic better. In crowded races, being able to survive contact and remain stable can be worth more than having slightly better theoretical pace.
That makes the Landspeeder particularly strong in unfamiliar races and multiplayer, where other players can ruin the perfect line you planned before reaching the corner.

3. Speeder Bike
The Speeder Bike takes third in our ranking, but that does not make it a bad vehicle.
Its biggest advantage is acceleration. If a track repeatedly forces you to slow down, the Speeder Bike can rebuild speed quickly and use Kinetic Burst to attack corner exits aggressively.
The problem is how much it punishes mistakes.
Its smaller, lighter design makes collisions more dangerous, and a bad line through traffic can erase the advantage you gained from stronger acceleration.
Best For: Players who value acceleration
Main Strength: Regaining speed quickly
Main Weakness: Fragility
Cornering Mechanic: Kinetic Burst
Best Tracks: Routes with repeated slow corners and acceleration zones
The Speeder Bike can absolutely outperform the others in the right hands, especially on tracks that constantly interrupt your momentum. We simply find its weaknesses harder to ignore across the entire game than those of the Landspeeder or Skim Speeder.

The overall ranking is useful, but the best vehicle for your own Tour can be different depending on what you struggle with.

If you keep hitting walls, choose the Landspeeder. If you are already comfortable with the tracks and want more potential pace, move to the Skim Speeder. If your biggest frustration is losing huge amounts of time every time a corner forces you to slow down, the Speeder Bike may fit you better.

How to Unlock Every Vehicle Type
You begin the Campaign with the Landspeeder. After beating Sebulba at the end of Act 1, you gain access to the other standard vehicle types and can permanently unlock them using Tuning Points.
Landspeeder: Unlocked by default
Speeder Bike: 10 Tuning Points
Skim Speeder: 20 Tuning Points
Those vehicle unlocks are permanent even though the temporary Parts and upgrades you collect during a Tour do not carry over in the same way.
Multiplayer gives you access to all three standard vehicle types without requiring the same Campaign unlock path.

For most players, we would learn the game in the Landspeeder and then move to the Skim Speeder once the tracks start becoming familiar.
