Star Wars Galactic Racer How to Change Difficulty

Star Wars: Galactic Racer can get punishing once a Tour starts eating through your available Crashes and League Entry Tokens. Difficulty is tied directly into that Tour structure, so changing it works a little differently than simply moving a slider during a race.

How to Change Difficulty in Star Wars Galactic Racer

You can change your Campaign difficulty when starting a new Tour. During the Tour setup, select the difficulty you want to use before beginning the run.

If you are already partway through an active Tour, you cannot simply swap the Tour itself to another difficulty in the middle of that run. Finish or end the current attempt, then choose a different difficulty when starting the next Tour.

1. Start a new Campaign Tour.
2. Go through the Tour setup options.
3. Select your preferred difficulty.
4. Begin the Tour with the new difficulty active.

You are not permanently locked into the difficulty you selected earlier in the Campaign. You can choose again when beginning another Tour.

All Star Wars Galactic Racer Difficulty Options

There are four Campaign difficulties in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, although Champion is not available immediately.

Cadet: Easiest difficulty
Pilot: Recommended/default experience
Ace: Harder difficulty
Champion: Hardest difficulty and unlocked after completing the Campaign

If you are struggling to get a Tour completed, there is nothing wrong with dropping to Cadet. Pilot is the recommended starting point, while Ace is better suited to players who already know the tracks and vehicle mechanics.

Champion is unlocked after completing all three Campaign Acts and is intended as the game's highest challenge.

What Does Changing Difficulty Actually Do?

Difficulty changes more than how quickly the opposing racers drive. Higher settings make opponents faster and more aggressive while also reducing how forgiving the Crash system is during a Tour.

On Pilot, for example, you normally have three Crashes available during an event before another Crash costs a League Entry Token. Raising the difficulty makes mistakes increasingly expensive, while Cadet gives you more room to learn the tracks.

Champion goes even further by changing how your Crashes refresh across a Tour, making damage management part of the challenge rather than only making the AI faster.

If the difficulty is coming primarily from controlling your vehicle rather than the opponents themselves, changing your setup may help more than lowering the difficulty. Our Star Wars Galactic Racer best vehicle type ranking compares the three main vehicle types, while our best upgrades guide covers which vehicle stats are worth improving first.

For the Campaign itself, though, the important part is that difficulty is chosen at the start of a Tour. If your current setting is too easy or too punishing, switch it when beginning your next run.
