WoW Forever Guides
World of Warcraft: Forever is Blizzard's new permanent version of Azeroth built around the original level 1–60 experience, but it isn't simply another Vanilla server. WoW Forever keeps the recognizable world, slower progression, social structure, classes, dungeons, raids, and exploration of early World of Warcraft while adding new regions, quests, systems, encounters, stories, and future updates that can continue expanding that same version of Azeroth for years.
What is World of Warcraft: Forever?
WoW Forever takes the foundations of original Azeroth and sends them down a different path. Rather than recreating World of Warcraft exactly as it existed in 2004 or eventually moving everyone through the same expansion timeline again, Forever is designed as its own persistent version of the game where Blizzard can keep developing the old world.
The story begins after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core, leaving room for familiar events, locations, and characters to develop differently from the history players already know. You'll still level from 1 to 60 across the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, but the journey now includes new stories and places alongside heavily expanded versions of areas that previously had unfinished corners.
Azeroth is Getting Bigger Instead of Being Replaced
One of the biggest changes in WoW Forever is how much new content is being inserted directly into the original world. Blizzard has announced more than 1,000 new quests across the level 1–60 journey, alongside new and reimagined regions including Mount Hyjal, Shen'dralas, the Riverglades, and Zephras Isle.
These aren't all endgame destinations, either. Riverglades, for example, adds more than 150 quests through a large portion of the mid-30s to mid-40s leveling experience. That approach is important to what Forever is trying to do: new development doesn't have to wait until Level 60, because Blizzard can add another quest chain, dungeon, settlement, or unexplored corner directly into the journey through Azeroth.
Level 60 is the Destination, Not the End of Forever
WoW Forever is being built as an evergreen game rather than the beginning of another march through WoW's old expansions. The initial journey takes characters to Level 60, with Blizzard planning to continue growing this version of Azeroth through additional raids, dungeons, quests, PvP, world content, systems, and other updates.
The new endgame already reflects that approach. Barrow Deeps is being developed as a maximum-level 10-player raid, while Hyjal Summit brings 20-player raiding to Mount Hyjal. Nine new dungeons are also joining the game, taking players into places including the Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, City of Dalaran, Blackmaw Hold, Drowned City, Krol'dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison, and Shaper's Terrace.
New Races, Classes, and Ways to Play
Forever doesn't freeze character creation in Vanilla WoW either. The Skyborne are a new playable race beginning on Zephras Isle, with players choosing whether their Skyborne character joins the Horde or Alliance. Both sides can become Warriors, Hunters, Rogues, and Druids, while faction alignment also opens different options: Horde Skyborne can become Shamans and Alliance Skyborne can become Mages.
Blizzard is also expanding and reworking character progression rather than simply copying an old patch forward. That makes classes, talents, leveling routes, professions, gear, and future balance changes especially important areas to follow as the WoW Forever Global launch approaches and players begin figuring out which parts of old-school WoW knowledge still apply to this new version.
Dungeons, Raids, and PvP in WoW Forever
Forever is intended to keep different sizes and styles of group content relevant rather than funneling everyone through one activity. Alongside its new dungeons and raids, Blizzard is adding the Darkspear Islands, a 15v15 Battleground that mixes strategic control points with flag capture and defense mechanics inspired by Arathi Basin.
The larger roadmap extends beyond the initial release as well. Blizzard has already confirmed more raids, dungeons, PvP updates, world content, quests throughout the 1–60 experience, Hardcore, a revamped iconic raid, and other major updates for the months and years following launch.
When Does WoW Forever Launch?
World of Warcraft: Forever launches globally on November 4, 2026, with access included through an existing World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. The beta begins September 17, giving players an early opportunity to learn the new leveling experience, classes, systems, builds, and progression before Global launch. Our WoW Forever guides below will cover those systems along with quests, locations, dungeons, raids, professions, classes, builds, items, and the other questions that emerge as this new version of Azeroth develops.
