Avowed: Thirdborn or Paradis? | Ancient Soil Quest What to Do

In Avowed, you will be given a tough choice at the end of the Ancient Soil questline: whether to send the people of Fior to Thirdborn or Paradis. Both options have their own consequences, so here’s a simple guide to help you understand what happens with each choice.
Option 1: Send the People of Fior to Thirdborn
Initial Outcome: At first, Thirdborn seems like a good choice since the people of Fior are rebuilding their lives and appear to be in a peaceful environment.
Consequences Later:
In the Shadows of the Past quest, you’ll have another difficult decision. No matter what you choose, people will die either way.
If you return to Thirdborn later, Quilicci will tell you about the misfortune that has followed them.
Immediate Outcome: While the people seem safe at first, they will face suffering later, though the consequences are more immediate in Thirdborn.
Option 2: Send the People of Fior to Paradis
Initial Outcome: Paradis is wary of Animancy, and sending the Fior people there might seem dangerous, especially given the overcrowding issues in the area.
Long-Term Outcome:
The people of Fior will avoid the immediate death that would happen in Thirdborn.
Quilicci will thank you for protecting the Fior people, and they will settle well in Paradis, though they will still face challenges due to overcrowding and restrictions on Animancy.
Later, you’ll learn that some Fior people have gone into hiding or are missing. They won’t be able to practice Animancy but will be praised for their agricultural skills.
Which Option is Better?
Sending them to Paradis can seem like the better choice because, while there are challenges, the people avoid the immediate death and suffering they would face in Thirdborn.
Thirdborn offers a temporary peace but leads to death and misfortune later on, and the people of Fior may never trust anyone again.
Ultimately, the decision depends on whether you want to minimize the immediate harm or risk a longer-term struggle. There’s no perfect answer, as both choices have consequences, but keeping people alive in Paradis may be the better choice in the long run.
