Over the Hill How to Unlock the Marshal
The Marshal is one of Over the Hill's heavier Expedition vehicles, weighing 3,200 kg and built around low-speed off-road driving rather than outright speed. You cannot buy it from the Mechanic or unlock it simply by reaching the desert; the Marshal is tied directly to completing a specific Challenge Trail in Tassili n'Ajjer Desert.

How to Unlock the Marshal in Over the Hill
To unlock the Marshal in Over the Hill, complete the Shabah Ascent Challenge Trail in the Tassili n'Ajjer Desert. Shabah Ascent has 14 checkpoints, and finishing the trail awards the Marshal as its vehicle unlock.
Vehicle: Marshal
Vehicle Type: Expedition
Unlock: Complete Shabah Ascent
Area: Tassili n'Ajjer Desert
Trail Length: 14 checkpoints
You do not need to purchase the Marshal afterward. The important requirement is finishing the Challenge Trail itself.
If you are working through the rest of the roster as well, our Over the Hill How to Unlock New Cars guide covers how vehicle unlocks work across the game.
Complete Shabah Ascent in Tassili n'Ajjer Desert
Shabah Ascent is the Challenge Trail specifically attached to the Marshal, so simply reaching Tassili n'Ajjer Desert or discovering the trail is not enough. You need to complete all 14 checkpoints and finish the course.
That distinction matters because Over the Hill distributes many of its vehicles through individual trails. The unlock is attached to the completion reward, not general progress within the surrounding area.
If you are entering Shabah Ascent specifically for the Marshal, prioritize completing the checkpoint route rather than treating the run as general exploration. Once the trail registers as finished, the Marshal should become available with the rest of your unlocked vehicles.
Marshal Stats
The Marshal is a 3,200 kg Expedition vehicle from the United Kingdom. Its size and drivetrain put it on the heavier side of the roster, with two forward gears and both high and low range available.
At its stock Engine Stage 1, the Marshal produces 200 Nm of peak torque and has a 19.8 km/h speed limit. Engine Stage 2 raises that to 227 Nm and 23.4 km/h, while the final Stage 3 upgrade reaches 256 Nm and a 27 km/h speed limit.
Mass: 3,200 kg
Base Peak Torque: 200 Nm
Stage 3 Peak Torque: 256 Nm
Base Speed Limit: 19.8 km/h
Stage 3 Speed Limit: 27 km/h
Suspension Travel: 0.7 m
Wheel Radius: 0.52 m
Winch Pull: 51,000 N
Gears: 2 forward, with high and low range
Cargo Bed: No
The Marshal's stock numbers make its role fairly clear. This is not a vehicle you unlock for top-end speed; it is a large Expedition platform with substantial mass, strong winch pull, and access to low range.
For a direct comparison with the rest of the roster, our Over the Hill Car Stats guide lists the major vehicle numbers side by side.
Is the Marshal Worth Unlocking?
The Marshal is worth unlocking if you want another heavy Expedition vehicle rather than a fast general-purpose car. Its 3,200 kg mass puts it among the heavier vehicles in Over the Hill, and its 51,000 N winch pull fits a vehicle designed around difficult off-road travel and recovery.
The tradeoff is speed. Even after reaching Engine Stage 3, its limit rises only to 27 km/h, so upgrading the Marshal does not turn it into a quick vehicle. The upgrades instead make an already heavy platform more capable without changing what the vehicle fundamentally is.
That makes Shabah Ascent a particularly worthwhile trail for players building out the heavier end of their garage. If you are deciding whether the Marshal should actually become your main vehicle afterward, our Over the Hill Best Car guide compares the strongest options for different types of driving.
For the unlock itself, there is only one requirement to remember: head to Tassili n'Ajjer Desert, complete all 14 checkpoints in Shabah Ascent, and the Marshal is yours.
