Corruption is one of the more important progression systems in The Blood of Dawnwalker because raising it opens up more of Coen’s vampiric potential. The confusing part is that Corruption doesn’t increase alongside your normal progression, and simply fighting enemies or completing quests isn’t enough on its own.
There is a specific action that actually fills the Corruption meter, and once you know how it works, you can start building Corruption pretty consistently while exploring instead of treating it like something you have to grind separately later.

How to Level Up Corruption in The Blood of Dawnwalker
The only way to level up Corruption in The Blood of Dawnwalker is to drink blood. You can do this either by using Voracious Bite on humans and animals or by consuming blood vials that restore vampiric health.
Voracious Bite is the method I’d prioritize because you can repeatedly use it on enemies and wildlife rather than burning through consumables. You can use the ability during combat, but you can also approach humans or animals while using Focus and look for opportunities to bite them while exploring.
One especially useful detail is that you still gain Corruption from Voracious Bite even when your health is already full. In other words, don’t save the ability exclusively for healing. If you have a safe opportunity to bite something, you can use it purely to keep pushing the Corruption meter forward.

Fastest Way to Gain Corruption
The best approach is to use Voracious Bite regularly, particularly on larger targets. The amount of Corruption you receive appears to vary depending on the size of whatever you drink from, so tiny animals such as rats and rabbits provide relatively little compared with larger animals like deer or human targets.
That means running around exclusively biting the smallest wildlife you can find isn’t necessarily the most efficient way to do it. They still provide progress, but larger targets are more valuable opportunities when they’re available.
My approach would be to treat Corruption gain as something you layer into normal exploration: use Voracious Bite whenever an easy opportunity presents itself, especially on larger targets, and keep doing it even when Coen doesn’t need the healing. That way you’re building Corruption while doing quests rather than stopping later to specifically farm it.

Do Blood Vials Increase Corruption?
Yes, but only certain blood vials count. A vial needs to restore vampiric health for drinking it to increase your Corruption.
You can also consume these vials while already at full health and still receive the Corruption, just like with Voracious Bite. If you have a huge stockpile, this gives you another way to push the meter without hunting for something to feed on.
I wouldn’t make this your primary Corruption method, though. Blood vials can be useful for healing during combat and can also have crafting value, while biting an available animal or enemy doesn’t consume anything from your inventory.
Also be careful with items that merely look blood-related. Beast’s Bane Brew, for example, does not increase Corruption. It gives a damage bonus against animals but doesn’t restore vampiric health, so drinking it won’t move your Corruption meter.
How Hastened Corruption Works
If you want to speed the process up further, look at the Hastened Corruption skill in the Vampirism tree. You first need to put a point into Nourishing Blood and reach Corruption level 1 before the first tier becomes available.
At Corruption level 1, Hastened Corruption increases Corruption filling speed by 30% and costs one skill point plus one time segment.
At Corruption level 4, the next tier allows you to drink blood at full health to overfeed. Overfeeding grants a temporary health segment and increases Corruption filling speed by 50% while you’re overfed. This tier also costs one skill point and one time segment.
At Corruption level 6, the final tier gives a permanent 50% increase to Corruption filling speed while also increasing vampiric health by 5% for each Corruption level. It costs two skill points and one time segment.
That makes Hastened Corruption particularly useful if you plan to lean heavily into Coen’s vampire progression, because the skill eventually improves both how quickly you gain additional Corruption and the benefits you receive from raising it.
